I think, They really just need to upgrade the soundcard, the screen to amoled and the battery be like the razr max and thats all I'd want.. and of course ice cream sandwhich. But to be honest I love my tbolt no problems or anything with it except my case from seidio kinda broke.

The article or what HTC said really has no bearing on how I feel about the Thunderbolt. IMO, it's still a very well designed phone. I really like the squared edges and how the capacitive button area and the top of the phone are highly minimized to allow the screen to use the most real estate. It also looks very sleek with the standard battery door and the kickstand is a killer feature. I do admit the 1400mAh battery is under powered, which IMO is really the only knock against the phone. It should've shipped with at least something like the Rezound 1620mAh battery. The extended battery and door, while adding much needed capacity, do add too much bulk and changes the look of the phone in a negative way. But until battery tech improves, you'll have design compromises either way to allow larger capacity batteries which mean either thicker or wider. Case in point, the RAZR/RAZR Maxx has a larger battery mainly due to the phone's width. The battery is flat and fills most of the inside back of the phone. For me, I dislike that width as much as added thickness in other phones. Anyway, while I eagerly look forward to what HTC has in store for this year, I’m fully content to keep rockin the Thunderbolt for the foreseeable future.

I am very happy with my tbolt. It has been dependable and since GB the battery life with the rezound battery has been incredible. I consistently get a minimum of 16 hrs before I plug it in at bed time. I am a bit of a phone geek so I am always looking to see what's new and to date, I haven't seen anything that has impressed me enough to even entertain giving up my bolt. Let's see what's just over the horizon.
Standard door. I bought two of them a while back and have been using them as my primary batteries (rarely use the extended anymore). For me, they've added approx. 6-8 hours more battery life (average 45 hours total with light to moderate use). YMMV.

They sure dropped the ball with the Tbolt. Look at thier revenue. Its not that strong. They put out a phone every 2 months. That's why im going with samsung. Waiting patiently to see if the Galaxy S III land on verizon. Im tempted to get the nexus S but ill wait and see. Ive bought the Eris, OG incredible & the Tbolt. After seeing the ugly pics of that HTC Ville, I think ill run from HTC.
The Rezound battery fits perfectly, same size as stock tb battery, so you just use the stock battery cover! It is by far the best purchase I have ever made for the Thunderbolt!
Agreed, It would be great if they could come up with a 2000 mAh battery. The Samsunng GS2 has a replacement battery with 2000 mAh and it's the same size as the Rezound battery we are using in the Thunderbolt. I have the oversized battery as well but since the Rezound battery I am getting a full day + just by turning off some of my sync accounts.
I like the new Razr Maxx, that phone is so popular they sold out.
So I have had the thunderbolt since it came out. I rooted and flashed BAMF and swapped the stock battery for a Seidio 3500mAh. With that, I have never had issues with the phone, even with heavy usage. I love the phone...it has worked more reliably than any iPhone or Blackberry and is significantly better than my wife's Droid. Maybe I'm not one of the cool kids, but I don't understand the fuss.

Maybe it was because it only went through one charge cycle, but the rezound battery only netted me about an hour. The extended battery lasts from 7 am until I plug it in around 1 am. It just takes forever to charge.

I don't believe they dropped the ball with the Thunderbolt. It was actually one of their best selling phones last year. Look at it now after all these months; it’s a mature, stable device for many, many users yet that still holds its own against newer phones.
HTC’s revenue drop occurred in the fourth quarter last year which is when the market was being saturated with other LTE phones. While I agree the Ville is ugly, it's nothing more than a mid tier phone that was already in the pipe. So, I'd withhold judgment until seeing a lot more of what may come out at Mobile World Congress. I'd expect HTC to have some good top tier phones coming out soon. If not, I know I’m not alone in continuing to rock the Thunderbolt for a while.

The Rezound battery probably doesn't add as much juice as the extended batt, but it has provided a noticeable difference on my Thunderbolt since I purchased it, and doesn't require a different back cover or add any bulk.
I rarely let my device charge all the way down, but I usually use the "time to 50%" as a quick personal gauge when I'm monitoring my battery life (time from 100% full charge to 50% charge). With the 2 original batteries I had, I'd usually average about 8-9 hours to hit 50%, but with the Rezound battery, I'm getting about 12 hours.
Strangely, none of the issues they mention are the issues that I have with it. In fact, one of the main selling points for me was the size, shape, and weight of the phone. It just feels and looks awesome to me. Yes, the battery life could be better, but it does fine with the Rezound battery installed and great with the extended battery, which actually makes the phone feel even better to me in my hands. I have an iPhone 4 too and had to put one of those battery cases on it to hold it. Otherwise it just feels awful in the hands. I HATE really thin phones and I HATE sharp/square corners.

My only problem with the "thin" phones is that they seem to only get wider as they get thinner (gotta find a way to get all the necessary parts in there!). The idea of a thinner phone is fine with me, especially since I usually put a case on it anyway -- but I don't need the thing to be so wide it won't fit in my pants pockets.
Personal preference though, and it seems that bigger screens are becoming the norm. I do think that the Thunderbolt should have originally shipped with a larger battery, but then, HTC would have probably had to make the phone even bigger than it is now.
Tough position to be in. Verizon wanted to get LTE phones out there, and I'm sure HTC wanted its Thunderbolt to get there first. The public (us) was getting frustrated at the delays that kept pushing the release of this phone back a year ago. You can't really have it both ways I guess...people complain when manufacturers push back releases, but then also complain when phones get released with bugs and imperfect features. With the speed that this market moves, companies are pretty much forced to get products out there, patch what they can, and start to focus on the next model hoping to improve as much as possible, because in 6 months models are already becoming obsolete. Look at the Bionic -- by the time it *finally* came out, the Galaxy Nexus and ICS was already right on it's heels; that model would have sold a lot more units had it been (ready to be) released earlier in the year when the Thunderbolt came out. Considering the Thunderbolt WAS Verizon's FIRST 4G LTE phone, I think they did a pretty darn good job.

The only thing that kept me happy (so to speak) with the T-Bolt was I rooted it, if I hadn't it, I would've walked.
I am on a two-year contract, and for curiosity, and for the possibility of getting upgraded sooner, I asked if I was eligible for an upgrade with all my issues.
I talked to a few people, and one person was really helpful, she was the only one to admit the issues with the T-Bolt she has seen, and didn't blame me. She was going to ask her manager, she left me a vm last night saying she was going to call me today and offer me a refurbed Razor as an early upgrade (she was going to see if a new Razor--not Maxx, she said they wouldn't offer that, but she obviously couldn't swing even the new Razr). I am obviously going to say no.
I will see what happens down the line, I might even break my contract early (I hate contracts, and maybe one of the pre-paid carriers will get a good Android phone), otherwise I also want to be on a GSM int'l capable carrier, so T-Mo is an option. We'll see. My ETF is about $110 lower according to VZW, but I really don't want to pay that, and my BAMF T-Bolt is fine, still glitches, but ok.
One other CSR was only giving me the company line about how the Thunderbolt is fine now, and was going to offer me a refurbed Bolt, I knew that wasn't going to help, and why give up my new for a refurbed unit.

I was a long time user of Blackberry and made the switch to Android almost 3 years ago. I love the HTC Thunderbolt. It is the best device I have ever used. I also sold wireless for close to 5 years for an indirect.
HTC makes a great product. I was very hesitant about the rezound battery but was given it as a gift and I can get up to 15 hours with it, depending on the use. I am really pleased with it. I don't like added bulk to a phone and HTC should have originally had a battery of this caliber when they released the Thunderbolt. But lucky for us they improved battery life with the Rezound device and even better for us that the standard battery fits the Thunderbolt.
There is no device on the Verizon lineup that impresses me. I am very happy with the TB and will use it my full two years or longer if they don't come out with a device equivalent to the TB when I am upgradable. I don't think the Rezound is equivalent.......it ranks with the Incredible in my opinion and that was my first Android device.......and I loved it. But it follows the Incredible with the color scheme and it is a vast improvement.........but still.......in my opinion not that of the Thunderbolt. I am pleased with it.
I have a friend and co-worker on TMobile and she is thinking of switching and hopes she can get a Thunderbolt if she does. This phone still rocks it for a lot of people and I for one am completely satisfied.

I actually ran this by a VZW rep,. it was a short 1 min talk as we were on the phone for 15 min. about my upgrade date, acct, how good a customer I am, don't leave, etc. He said do not purchase the Rezound battery, I told him I am not (which I'm not I already bought the brick extended battery and I don't want to empty my wallet on any more T-Bolt accessories in case I leave VZW. I was using that for several months, but since I am using BAMF I went back to standard this week after months on the extended as it was too much like wearing and holding a brick w/ the extended battery).
The rep. said it will void your warrenty (I am guessing rooting will too
) and could damage the phone.Since I am guessing you work with VZW, what is the word about this?
