HTC Camera Zoom VS S3 camera zoom

So I was looking at the HTC and noticed it;s camera had a "28mm" lens, which under "Zoom" on specs (ATT website) it says "Zoom: Continuous" vs "Zoom 4x digital zoom" on the S3

So... How does the zoom's fair on these? Which is better?

AFAIK, there is no real optical zoom on either device, just "digital" zoom, which basically means cropping the picture so less of the picture fills the screen, with no more detail than the original pic.
