"There has been overwhelmingly customer feedback that people want access to open bootloaders on HTC phones. I want you to know that we've listened. Today, I'm confirming we will no longer be locking the bootloaders on our devices. Thanks for your passion, support and patience," Peter Chou, CEO of HTC

That is awesome. Now, I want them to take it one step further and give us the ability to unlock it on present devices. :)

Great news. When it's time for a new phone, whether a phone has an unlocked bootloader will factor into my decision.

I've already rooted my thunderbolt with s-off, but this is awesome news. Shows the voice of many can still make a difference.

Good I hope this means we will have extra memory on the HTC phones and longer battery life. Since the bootloaders be using up space and battery power.
