Im stuck between choosing the htc desire or blackberry bold 9700 and i hear good stuff about the htc desire except the battery life i could get a 3000 mah battery but that would mmake the htc clunky and thick do any of you have the an extended battery? if so is it really that bad? is it worth getting or troublesome? or should i just the the blackberry? BTW im on the telus network

I recently moved from Palm Pre to Desire and have to say I'm amazed at the difference. I barely got through the working day on my Pre so always had to carry a spare battery, now on the Desire I'm easily getting a full day, generally about 30% left at night.

Don't know about the BB, only ever had a Pearl, which lasted forever, but the Desire certainly does the job for me... even if I do carry a spare battery around just in case :)

To give the BB perspective I am a heavy BB user my 2600ma battery only lasts 12-13 hrs. So what I'm getting at is BB battery life is not all its cracked up to be. If you go with the desire there is a mugen (that may not be spelled right)batt. They also offer a case and holster for thair 3200ma batt. Hope that helped. Desire owner tomarow!!!

I've had my Desire for three months now and I've never really had any problems with battery life that's not down to my own stupidity. You don't walk around town with the GPS on for two hours, changing between checking Maps and playing 3D games while on trains/buses.

If you just use the phone normally, i.e. do some browsing, some texting, play games for a while, check maps to get your bearings, you'll be fine. On a normal working day, I usually get through a day and then some. Longest time I've used it without charging is somewhere around 52 hours, and even then I didn't actively try to save battery. I just didn't use it as much as I usually do. :P

How long does it take for the battery to be conditioned? I am only able to get threw the day and thats if I only check e-mail a few times and only a hand full of phone calls. Even with the battery issue android is great I should have switched long ago.

It's a Li-Ion battery; it doesn't need conditioning and anybody who tells you it does has no idea what he's talking about.

Doesn't need it, however it's recommended to charge it right up when you take it out of the box for the first time and give it a good long charge the first time it runs down. There is a guide that HTC posted for those who are having short life battery issues and it actually works.

I came from the TP2 to the Desire. The desire is a little smaller and thinner. But I didn't need the keyboard. But the TP2 batter would last almost a whole day of heavy use, the Desire would last maybe 8 hours of heavy use. So I bought the extended battery. Some differences I noticed is that the camera is 100% better. (There is no glass covering on the extended back.) The camera will last several days of light use, and 16 hours or so from heavy use.. I also had to cut a hole in my silicon rubber case to accommodate the extended battery. Good thing is the Seiko belt clip (I paid too much for for myTP2) works with the Desire.

Mine will make it through a day easy. I turn off WiFi and thats it. Just use it and learn what makes the bat run down and what doesn't as far as apps. I really like my Desire.

My 9700 had no probleme to finish the day with 50% oin heavy usage. My Desire finish the day between 35-50%, but I have to close my unactive connections(bluetooth, wifi, gps. My wifi is on all the time).

The 9700 have a better battery but the Desire is not bad too. I prefere my Desire a lot compared to my old ''so-2002'' 9700.
