well i emailed htc about the droid incredible getting 2.3 and sense 2.0 gotta pretty quick response and this is what they had to say ofcourse the email really basically said its up to verizon..._-

"The decision to release updates for a particular phone are completely at the discretion of your cellular provider. When phone updates are given to a cellular provider, they will customize the update to fit their customer's needs and then release the update. All of these new features need to be individually tested prior to release, and this process does take time. As much as I would like to give you a better answer, we're given no indication of what's gong to be added to any given update, or how long our engineers plan to test the new software, prior to release. Since our technical support reps do not have any hand in the development process, it's not possible for any of our agents to estimate when and if any particular update will be released.

Software updates are dealt with a higher level of technical support that we do not have a direct line to. Since things change so drastically from one day to the next, it's tough for them to estimate release dates, too. For these reasons, our software developers don't tend to share that information with the average agent. Quite often, we will not know about software updates until they're actually launched."

Root and flash a 2.3 Rom... there are a few good ones. I am using Cyanogen. I will tell you that is not a big difference between 2.2 and 2.3 from a ui perspective. If the Inc never got 2.3 you really would not be missing much in my opinion.

It is up to the carrier but it is also great knowing if you have a question, you can email HTC and they respond. I had a blackberry for a few years and there is no way you can email RIM like you can HTC. I have tried and the email would just be bounced back. I am impressed with HTC and I am really glad to be done with Blackberry due to the issues. I think it is a great platform for people, but no longer for me. I have had no issues whatsoever with the Incredible. I find it quite refreshing to say I am completely satisfied.......for once ! I am glad HTC has the right approach....to please their customer base and let it be easy to contact them.
Manufacturers need to realize yes, they do make the products, but it is the public that make their sales profits. Without customers, they won't have their jobs. I don't like not being able to email a manufacturer if there is an issue. I have only found RIM to be that way.

hmmm.....maybe we wouldnt be missing anything but there sure is a hell of a lot different in sense 2.0

Yeah i agree and i was suprised to actually get a replY and they actually replied about 30 minutes after i sent them the email im going to be staying with htc for awhile

Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk

They probably have some rule that looks over the email for "update" "new" "firmware" and the like and just throws that response back automatically.

Yeah, the big change would be if we would get Sense 2.0. But there's no telling that even if we get 2.3 if Sense 2.0 would be included anyway. They could use that just to try to get people to buy new devices, like the Thunderbolt.

I really want Sense 2.0!

Overall, though, I really like the DInc and give HTC credit for responding quickly and honestly. I'd rather they say they don't know than have them not respond or not be honest.
