Re: capacitive buttons not working

Take the battery cover off and pull the battery for about 30 seconds. I know it sounds stupid but this will fix a lot of these strange issues. Plus keep in mind it may take a few minutes to boot up. If this does not work then I would try a hard reset. And if that fails its an adventure to the Sprint store!

Good luck with the issue! Let us know if anything works.

Re: capacitive buttons not working

it didn't work randomly they will start working again and then stop we cannot seem to find the cause

Re: capacitive buttons not working

I'm having the same issues also. I have had mine since the day the phone was released and have not had these issues until the most recent update to the phone. Maybe it has something to do with the update and then again maybe not but will someone please help with this issue if they know what's going on.

Re: capacitive buttons not working

I guess whatever they had in the softwate update apparently affected the keyboard because I cleared cache for swype and touch input, did a battery pull for 30 seconds after power shutdown and still the same problem (I know that a hard reset would probably fix but I don't want to do that yet and lose everything on the phone). I guess people over on the sprint forums are reporting the same problem after the HTC update. This is really frustrating because I can't dial 0 or use my backspace key or any other key in the area about an 1/2 inch up from the bottom. The lockscreen also is frustating because you have to start at the bottom and it becomes a game trying to get it to the top. HTC needs a fix NOW!!!

Re: capacitive buttons not working

I did a "hard reset" and the 4 buttons at the bottom dont work. what now?

Re: capacitive buttons not working

I had this problem as well. They had to replace it. Take it to a Sprint repair shop.

Re: capacitive buttons not working

I figured as much. I really tried to avoid that. But, helpful. Thanks

Take it in to sprint an they will warranty it for you. But u also have the choice of exchange for the photon or nexus s. That phone is the most problematic thong they carry. It will take a couple days though cause they have to order it.

Re: capacitive buttons not working

im having the same problem it started a couple days ago to where i was on and off and now the completly stopped working... :'( .... my parents dont want to take it to the sprint store only because they have the same phone and its not doing that to them.... but if i end up taking it would we have to pay anything to get a ne phone?????

If you have insurance and there is no physical damage or water damage then, no you will not have to pay anything. But if there is some softbof physical damage that can be concluded as a fall or water damage then you would have to pay $100

Re: capacitive buttons not working

I been having the same problem but also my screen starts acting up. It presses on its own and I read on here that there is a problem with the screens. I just haven't been able to go to the Sprint store to get it checked out.

Re: capacitive buttons not working

The HTC EVO 3D problems are from sync !!!
Go to settings, then scroll down to accounts & sync.
select cancel sync.
your phone will start working normal.
I went into all the apps in sync and turned them off or as close as possible except for mail. works fine now.
this SYNC option was added back in 2011 and has been a problem ever since. It will use all memory to access the internet to sync apps to your phone and update their app sites with your information.(thanks so much for asking me first).
Invasion of privacy is upon us and taken for granted until your HTC EVO 3D lock-up and trys to tell you that.
greetings from the felon world.

Re: capacitive buttons not working

That's just crazy.

But spot on. I did this yesterday as suggested and all intermittent problems (save for not being able to clear the "Are you sure you want to watch this in 3D?" dialogue once the media viewer goes into 3D mode) seem to have gone away.

Thanks!

THANK YOU!
THANK YOU!!
THANK YOU!!!
I KNEW there had to be something else besides a HARD restart.
I am out of state, at a conference, and I rely on my phone so dang much!!
(I was going crazy!)
Very glad you offered this post and the fix!!!
