HTC EVO 4g free service. Any one else experiencing this?

ok i have an HTC EVO 4G

android version 2.3.7
mod version cyanogenmod 7 nightly

i rooted this phone and flashed to cricket about a year ago. about 3 months ago i ended service with cricket, used up all the time they allowed without making a payment, then they shut it off. for the last 2 or 3 months ive just been using google voice with groove ip to make calls and texts through VOIP. 2 weeks ago i up graded from cyanogens free rom to their nightly. anyway the last few days, while driving around town and not having any wifi to connect to, ive still been recieving texts, and missed calls, emails ext... i figured mayb i just happend to pass by a open wifi connection, and my phone auto connected, downloading my messages. but it happend more and more, so i turned off my cells wifi and i see 3g on my phone and basically have full use of this phone. now i still have to use google voice with groove to make calls and texts, but im not using wifi. anyone else going through this?

I had a buddy who had a Sanyo Zio on Cricket and the same thing happened to him. Used his new found free 3G service for a few months until he paid for re-activation.
