HTC evo or Nexus S?

Thanks everyone for helping me with my decision. I will go next Monday to get the phone swapped out. But a few more things... I'm kind of new to the whole smart phone scene, my old phone was a crappy Straight Talk (Walmart) flip phone. I never really used my cell phones much though, just light texting and an occassional call.

So is the "vanilla" Android kind of like a rooted phone? Can I delete and add anything? And the cameras.. the Evo has a higher MP camera and front faced. Is the Nexus S comparable? Is there any reason to PREFER the Evo over the Nexus S?

Its not but it is very easy to root. Also the camera on the front and back IMHO perform better than the evo cameras.

The $200 you spend today is the least of your costs. Your contract over the 24 months will be about $2000. Consider all your options in the Phone Comparison. 24 months is a long time.

I don't think that anyone has asked if you want to just use the phone as shipped or if you want to root and use the developer tools on it. Do you love to tinker?

Facebook: Do you want to be able to sync Facebook contacts, profile updates & status. Do you want to be able to email or text using Facebook contacts?

Do you want the phone to come with a Notification LED, Speed Dial, Smart Dial, Camera Zoom, FM Radio, or Visual Voicemail?

The EVO 4G and Nexus S were two of the best phones from 2010. You will be happy with either one. Just take some time to try out your options and see what you like.

A phone is like shoes. Only you know what feels right for you. 24 months is a long time. You will use this phone all-day, every day. Get the one you want. Have fun checking out your options.

I agree it really depends how you intend to use it. Atfhis point I'm using my EVO 3D for gaming Facebook and internet surfing but like I said before when Ht Sense syncs it extremely slow. The only thing that I don't like about Nexus it does not sync contacts natively within the Facebook app

Both are great. I loved my EVO but pure Google just feels right. The smaller form factor of the NS turned out to be the best feature on the Nexus even though I would miss the EVOs slightly larger display.you really can't go wrong either way but if you love Android on any device you'll love it even more on the official Google phone.
