My HTC Evo had this problem where it would occasionally get really hot (overheating?) and would start restarting constantly - to the point It was unusable. This usually wore off though and stopped. But this time it just shut off after 5 or 6 times and won't turn on! It doesn't recognize a charger at all and won't turn on. I had this problem before, and I decided to get it looked at. They said it was the battery, so I got that replaced yesterday. After just one day, the problem is back (or just never left?)! Does anyone know how to fix this?

The last app I downloaded.....was a long time ago. I don't remember downloading one since before Christmas, so I don't think that is my problem. I think it was some office app that let me view powerpoints.

Can you power up the phone into bootloader?

If you don't know how...Hold the volume down and power button at the same time till a white screen w/3 skateboarding androids on the bottom of the screen???

I had the same problem with overheating reboots. Since I switched to Virgin I only use the EVO as an mp3 player and that problem stopped (so I do agree there's a heat-related problem).

Mine died tonight too, though not in the same way. It just goes into a reboot loop.

Dang, i had a theory that the battery being replaced would fix this. Wonder if anybody else had ths over heating problem and a replacement battery did fix it?

Oh, you meant it doesn't power on.. .gotcha...

Um... maybe it's not the battery but in fact a short. That would explain things.

if you have insurance take it to sprint, or even if you don't have insurance, i think you get 1 years manufacturer's warranty too which wouldn't be through sprint but you would get a replacement since obviously its manufacturers defect, unless you dropped it in the toilet while you were watching youtube videos or playing gameboid

I think some times it could be a short in the device, hardware issue, and sometimes its a battery.
