So I bump charged my HTC Extended Battery when I received it yesterday. With normal use I used 2 of the 10 bars during 19 hours. I just had a reboot. Go figure. This sucked another battery bar down so 3 are now gone. However, the length of time without charging is incredible. With my regular battery I was looking at 5-8 hours on average before I had to charge it. I am VERY happy with this extended battery. Hopefully the case comes in soon too (backorder).

These are the best photos I can take using mirrors here at work:

Per the Verizon rep in regards to my reboot issue, I was told that they will replace my phone with a refurb.. I'll post the chat shortly:

info: Thank you for contacting Verizon Wireless. My name is 'Shana', how may I assist you?
Shana: Good afternoon, Rick. How can I assist you?
Rick: Hey Shana. I installed an HTC extended battery yesterday in my HTC Thunderbolt. Within the past 24 hours I've had several reboots. I updated the OTA firmware 2 weeks ago as well.
Shana: I am very sorry to hear that. Just to clarify, when you mentioned reboots, do you mean that the phone turned itself automatically?
Rick: That is correct, it restarts automatically.
Shana: Ok. Did you have this problem before you inserted the Extended Battery?
Rick: Yes, it did this several times with my regular battery as well.
Rick: Before & after the OTA firmware update.
Shana: Ok. For security purposes, may I please have your billing password?
Rick: Sure
Shana: Thank you very much! Please allow me a few moments to review your account.
Shana: Thank you very much for your patience. Since you have the current software version installed and are still having issues with the phone rebooting itself, we may need to replace the handset. Since you are still within the one-year manufacturer warranty, we can replace the phone with a Certified Like-New handset of the same make and model at no charge.
Rick: Okay, is this possibly a refurb piece? I've seen several refurbs arrive in subpar condition to guys on my Android forums. I've received refurbed phones under warranty as well in the past and have had nothing but problems with them as well. I'm just leery going to another one.
Shana: I understand. This would be a refurbished handset, as your warranty does not replace the phone with a new one. Please keep in mind, before a handset can be considered as a replacement unit, they do go through a 100-point inspection with our warehouse.
Rick: Understood. Thank you, Shana. Can you document my account on this? I'd like to do some research prior to having a refurb unit sent. I'll check back if I decide that that's the best route to take.
Shana: Absolutely.
Rick: Okay, great. Thank you very much for your help today, Shana. You have a great day.
Shana: Thank you very much and you as well! Do you have any other further questions or concerns I may assist you with?
Rick: Nope, that'll be it. Thanks again!

Welcome to the extended club! Its very nice, love mine. I bought mine the day I bought the phone, wasn't even going to mess around with the stock battery.

I am still undecided on the extended battery. Just how much does it protrude on the back? This phone really does need the extra power for it to last a full day and take full advantage of the 4G connectivity. I'm thinking I can get the battery and use it when I travel and use the stock during regular office days (since charging it is not an issue when in the office).

Let me measure... Per my ruler it sticks out approx 0.5cm (Or approx 5mm) from the normal backing of the phone.

Only 5mm? That is not too bad. It should also fit my current case since my leather case for the TBolt expands. Yep, I think it will be worth getting it. Thanks!

I was in the same position as you, second guessing whether or not I could live with the "hump". I even went to a brick and mortar Verizon store to see how it looked and felt in person and was still undecided. Then I took the plunge and let me tell you... It is great! It was an adjustment for the first couple days but I would be sunk without it when I travel for business. I have now had it for a couple months and can easily get a day and a half out of it if not more without a charge. For travel this is the way to go

Are you using the extended battery all the time or are you swapping it for when you travel? I guess once you get used to it, it doesn't matter. :)

Yeah the extended life batery is great, I've had mine sine about a week after I got the phone. The creeking battery door is a little anoying but I dont use that phone to talk on anyway.

The battery does not appear to have anything to do with the reboot issue as just as many people are using stock as stock and extended batteries and getting the reboot.

I was undecided at first but I broke down and bought one a week ago and it really is awesome. I don't mind the extra weight or thickness. Now just waiting for the seidio active case to became available.

This is the first extended battery case that looks good. Definitely let us know what you think of the case when you get it. Thanks.

That's exactly what I thought. I'll definitely post up my thoughts once I get it.

Exactly! It's really not horrible. Moving photos to the OP.

This is true for me... I have had many reboots with both the stock and the extended battery. So don't let that detour anyone, the double life is awesome. I was starting to feel like I didn't have a wireless device with the stock battery... The thing was always plugged in.

FWIW: I had reboot issues with the factory battery and have had 1 reboot in 22 hours with the extended battery.

Reboot #2 in less than 24 hours.. wtf!? Killed TWO green bars with this latest reboot.

Yes sadly reboots take a log of juice but I have found that since the reboot problem started that these reboots are also taking more than twice as long to actually come back up again ... Finally broke down and did a factory data reset last night and so far so good but I also don't have all the apps installed yet as I seem to be experiencing an issue with the market. (tested this on three devices so it is definitely the market or the network in my area, not the phone).

Mine stopped rebooting a few days ago. Knock on wood. I did the update the day it was released, and the phone started rebooting itself about 3 times a day. It's been running for 4 days now with no reboot.

this is the OEM extended battery that verizon is selling correct? I really want to go down to the store and see if they got one i can try out. want to see if i can deal with it
