May 9 is the European release date; given that the Europeans got to pre-order some time before the US pre-order through Best Buy started, the US release might be some time after the Europe release as well.
Engadget had a little note about the Flyer passing through the FCC. Still no date certain, but the wheels are turning.

Best Buy and HTC Flyer
Has anyone actually pre-ordered an HTC Flyer? The only thing I have seen on HTC Flyer Tablet at Best Buy's website is available this spring, but I have read that it was supposed to be available for pre-order 25 Apr.

My local BB, says they know nothing about a pre-order for the Flyer. So can you provide me with additional information on how you pre-ordered?
I pre-ordered mine from BB online at 12:06 a.m. April 25; however the online pre-order page was removed a day or so later . . . I just now called BB to confirm that my order is good; it is still good and the ship date is still 5/22-27.

It looks as though the rest of us will be waiting for the 2nd round, but on the bright side it may have Honeycomb by that point. Oddly, I checked for pre-order availability at 8:00 am on the 25th in S. GA and it was not available, so I can only guess that it had sold out or could BB have only targeted certain regions?

I just spoke with a supervisor at BB mobile and she said to look for availability in mid May. Your guess is as good as mine, as to the inventory meeting the demand.
Do you know whether the BB supervisor meant more pre-order availability or shipping availability?

Her statement was that you would be able to purchase on-line or in stores by mid-May. Comparing that to your promised ship date of May 22-25, I would say they expect to have inventory by mid-May. I am still wondering why they would allow some pre-orders and then shut it down instead of showing out of stock like they did the Asus Transformer. Honestly the only reason I want the Flyer, is for the scribe capability.
I walked into my local Best Buy (San Carlos, CA) and they had flyers (no pun intended) plastered all over the tablet display promoting the Flyer pre-order. I talked to a rep and they filled out the paperwork, took my $50 deposit, and sent me on my way with my receipt. At the time he said they had no estimate on the actual availability date.
It seems like some Best Buys are totally on top of it, and others have no idea what's going on.

Very strange considering the Best Buy Mobile supervisor told me she had no knowledge of a pre-order for the "Elusive Flyer" (pun intended) and even stranger considering Best Buy is the exclusive distributor the WiFi only version.

HTC Flyer is available for pre-order at Best Buy's website, today, Sun, 01May2011. I just ordered mine, received conformation and the expected delivery is 22-27 May.

Great news. Out of currosity, do you expect to receive a stylus with your Flyer and if not do you have any indication of the cost of the stylus? I will be curious to see if yours arrives with a stylus or any information on attaining one. If the stylus is over priced it may be a deal breaker for a lot of people.
Of course, I don't know anything for certain but, because of the HTC advertising vids in which the stylus Scribe technology is always demonstrated/emphasized, I do expect an included stylus. And yes, I'll surely post in here when I receive the device---perhaps before I even open the box if I can restrain meself that long. ;-)
This entire thingy has been weird to me with so much unclear stuff . . . But then I read earlier today that another device (I think a new HTC cell phone) which also is offered exclusively by BB must be asked for instore in order to pre-order and no advertising is being made for it. Hello? Whatever.
