HTC HD7 Phone and what can I do (Tmobile with Sim card)

I have a business partner that has a pawnshop.. He has given me an HTC hd7 to see what I can do with the phone.. Is there something comparable to root that I can do with it?

Since I'm not posting from my phone right now, a bit more detail...

My friend that owns the pawn shop got an HTC HD7 in for himself, along with another one in that someone pawned...and he wanted me to find out what exactly could be done with the phones, ie, changed to pre-paid via the sim or used in another phone and activated??

I've never, ever tinkered with WP7, but I reset back to factory defaults last night (mainly because I couldn't get the old user's info out of it, on the Windows Live account..so I had to factory default to clear that)...
But I'd like to know is there an "Admin" that I can get to or is that all tied up...something like what Root with Android gives us...Mainly for clearing the phone out or changing/upgrading the firmware??
