Hey man I need help. I have the HTC Inspire 4G and would like to root it. I have issues with my phone in the past so it wont do the automatic update and I updated HTC sync but when i conect my phone its going to wipe out everything. so i have my software on my phone is android 2.3.3 HTC Sync 2.1 and kernel 2.6.35.10. Im not sure to restore my phone to factory settings and then let it update then do the root or what? If you could help me out, I would appreciate it. thanks!
I am looking to root my HTC Inspire and I am a newbie. I did download the ace hack kit EU version since the US version was not working/website down, which the EU version should still work right even though im in United States? Before I try doing this root what steps should I do to not lose all my info? I have all my contacts on my phone rather that google and exported them to my SD card. Music and photos not a big deal but I actually copied and pasted my entire SD card to my laptop and once rooted I will add photos and music to my phone. Im about to do a factory reset on my phone and the factory reset to my SD card as well. Before I root should I update my HTC Inspire to gingerbread? My phone has been messed up for awhile so iy hasnt been updating itself. Hope you can help me with this.

I have a HTC Inspire that boots to the white screen with the green htc logo then it shuts down then boots again.

I can get it to the hboot screen

I tried copying the clean droid file to the micro sd card and putting it in, then factory reset, recovory it just boot loops again.

it displays for a fraction of a second when it goes into the hboot menu that it cant find a image, I put the clean droid in the root of the sd card....

am I doing this wrong?

Ok so i rooted my HTC inspire now when i turn on my phone it shows HTC then fades to black any ideas on how to fix this. plz help thanks

Again, I want to thank you for guiding me in the correct direction.
I'm upgrading my daughter's phone this weekend and I plan to root, flash the super-wipe just in case, and then flash the same WCX ILLUMINATI ROM for her to get rid of the AT&T bloatware, plus giving her greater battery life. Thanks for the links, instructions, and stress relief getting my Inspire back running correctly.

Hi, same problem here. And I'm a bit of a newbie. Can you please list what you did in step by step instructions because I obviously failed to follow. I understand you did this in the beginning of the year, so any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance!
