HTC Inspire Vs. Motorola Atrix

Pages on the Atrix must load instantly, because they load super fast on my Inspire (way faster than the N1 did)

Yeah i would say page load time is just a bit faster on the atrix, but when it comes to full site rendering atrix just eats it up

Anyone else worried about the battery life of the Inspire? I'm probably a moderate user and can plug in mid-day if necessary, but would rather not need to. If the battery can last me through a normal day, I'll get the Inspire. If not, I might be on the fence.

I got the Inspire with the intention of trading it in for the Atri, but now after a few days with the Inspire, i have changed my mind. Its like night and day compared to my EVO. Its a great phone. really fast. I really was turned off to the Atrix because of MotoBlur but Launcher Pro could cure that. Then i learned that the Atrix only uses the full 1GB of RAM when in the laptop dock. ( read it on engadget) so it actually has less RAM than the Inspire in just phone mode. So i'm keeping the Inspire. Just got Swype installed and I'm loving it.

the atrix really only uses 1 gig when its on the dock? wow thats gonna be a deal breaker for a lot of people i know waiting on the phone because i doubt all of them will be using the dock.

Had tried to review both the same on my blog, i would like to hear your views (link removed by moderator).

I chose the HTC INSPIRE because i know what they can do, only time can tell if the Motorola has what it takes.

I got the HTC Inspire a week ago, but was thinking about switching to the Atrix when it came out. Today I had the first chance to compare the screen size. There is just no comparison. The Atrix screen was much smaller than I thought, even though it claims a 4" screen, it was about the same width as the iPhone 3GS, only longer. Side by side the Inspire 4.3" screen looked huge. I wasn't able to see the Atrix screen in action though.

Having learned ATT will force me to upgrade to the tether plan if I used the HD dock, I am giving up on the Atrix. The only thing missing on the Inspire that I want is the HDMI output to HDTV. HTC supposed to have the Media Link kit out already, anyone heard anything?

BTW this Inspire is my first venture into Android, so far impressed.

I can't get HTC's built-in DLNA feature working with my PS3 but twonky streams music, video, and photos just fine

I find the atrix to be overrated.

1. Dual Core processor, before you go on about how great it is, why dont we let it prove itself for more than a day. If it really is so efficient and speedy then the rest of the manufacturers will adopt this technology. If it is a flop, then the rest of the manufacturers will avoid this tech.

2. Inferior external materials used.
To use the "atrix dual core fanboy before it gets tested logic".... "Plastic on a phone is so last gen hardware, what a step in the wrong direction" but seriously... the inspire aluminum unibody enclosure feels great to hold!

3. Android UI.
Sense UI is far superior than MOTOBLUR. Why do you think they had to put a tegra 2 and 1gb of ram? So people would buy it!

4. Screen Resolution:
The forum spreaks for itself on this one.
Jump over to the atrix forum and you will see people say things like "The atrix screen is good but the Inspire screen is nice too" etc. etc.

5. Price

rant over.

I find processor and ram to be 1/3 of a phone, the other 2/3 are external hardware, and Android UI.

Unfortunately my HD sets are not the latest ones, no luck with DLNA. I need HDMI out to my HD sets. But after further research, I suspect we will never see the HDMI kit for Inspire because of ATT.

I am about to switch to the Atrix because the battery on the Inspire sucks donkey ****. I love the screen size and everything about Sense UI but I can't charge my phone on the go twice a day. I am actively searching for a larger battery for the Inspire but if I can find a remedy for the lack of battery life, bye bye Inspire.

There is no guarantee that just because the Atrix comes with a bigger battery that it will have better battery life.

If you are a heavy user than charging on the go might be the only option.

Sadly I'm in a similar boat... I thought the Atrix was too gimmicky initially but the big battery might put me over the edge. As it stands I either have to plan to charge my Inspire twice a day or try to minimize my usage which I'm not very happy about.

you guys definitely didnt train your battery correctly. If I was you guys I would shut your phone off at night and leave it on charge overnight for a week straigh , I and many of my friends are getting 12-15 hours out of our inspires. Also there are some nice issues with the Atrix grass is in no way greener

Its easier to complain and jump ship when a more expensive phone comes out thinking that price=better. Its the natural thing to do.

It makes me wonder what would happen if the Inspire was $200 on contract. People wouldnt know what to do ! :)

Wifi access makes a big difference. If you have access to it all day, your battery will last a lot longer. When there is no wifi signal, I drain 7-9% battery per hour. On wifi I am seeing a drain of less than 5% per hour even under heavy use.

Signal strength, widgits and mail can also greatly affect it.

Andrea, I believe you said you're on wifi most of the day which would account for your stellar battery life.

I have seen you in the Atrix forum making several posts. I really don't understand some of your critical posts over there, and why you want to debate about a phone you don't even own and appear not to like.

The Atrix does last longer, as well it should. It has a much larger battery and runs the same system. Also, based on other independent reviews from places like Engadget and the Huffington Post, it has much longer life than reviewers have posted regarding the Inspire.

This isn't a good or bad thing. Just a fact. I own both phones and both are great devices.

ahh, well I went into AT&T store not planning on actually buying anything, "just looking" lol I wanted something with 3g or better so that I could Skype with the hubs.. I was buying out of contract and the price was right vs. the Atrix and definitely vs. the iPhone which I was originally going to get because of the cameras... just reading this thread I realize that the Atrix has a front camera too and it makes me go hmmmmmmm.. because that is one of the things I wanted in a phone... 3g or better & and front camera for video chat. I had asked the people working there if the iPhone was the only one with the front camera and they said yes, so I just went for the inspire with the cheaper price. I don't think I am gonna take this one back anyways though because I hate motorola. I am jealous of the front camera though! :( it would have been awesome while the husband is gone.

I'm sorry you do not understand my posts. Do I not have a right to debate about a phone that I do not even own? Do you own the Inspire?

@mbranscum

Also, I believe the only post where I brought up something that could remotely be considered critical is the Sense UI on Atrix thread. which I believe I do have experience in that area.
