HTC M8 after update phone is stuck in Android recovery

I tried every option offered on the screen, nothing works, I followed the steps with htc sync manager and the RUU, the update started and failed at 0%

My wife's did the same thing and had some type of similar recovery mode. With hers I was able to use the volume keys for up and down and the power button as select. We moved it to reboot and then hit the power button. If that's what's on your screen then try it. After rebooting it has worked fine.

thanks a lot, I have tried as the volume and power buttons are working fine within the recovery mode but it keeps on going back to that same android recovery screen. the bootloader says it's locked, is it meant to be unlocked when I run the RUU?
Thanks for your help, I have had this phone for one month only and I like it so much, I wish i never ran the update!
