I like the look of htc's mail app, but it doesn't have the functionality of the native gmail.

Surprising to me that HTC released this without full functionality, i.e. Starred folder, personal folders.

Any suggestions?

Keep in mind it's an android phone, so the HTC one is basically only for other email providers where gmail is obviously for just gmail.

I should have stated that I do use TouchDown for my corporate and it works really well.

I do understand htc's mail is primarily for pop, etc. But it does look much better than native gmail.

Will look into the other apps to aee if they're worth the coin...

Thanks.

I couldn't get IMAP mail to send using the default client. K-9 works for me. Thanks.

Skitmail is another option but I think I like K-9 better.

I like to use the HTC email app. Works just fine for me. However I don't do much with my email to start.

I think it's already been said but HTC mail is a just skinned stock Android mail app. And the stock Android email app sucks. Gmail is far superior partially because it's tailored for use with Gmail. As for generic pop3/imap mail I use k-9 because well...it doesn't suck and has most of the features you'd probably want in a standard mail receiver.

K-9 saved my butt. I spend four hours (I mean it) with help from VZW phone support trying to set up my POP3 accounts and failed. Had to go to the store, the guy downloaded K-9, and everything worked.
