HTC Nexus Marlin Specs

6P is a very tall phone. Too big of upper lower bezels. Ya you get 2 front speakers because of that but I honestly would prefer a smaller profile than blasting front speakers that I never dial all the way up.

I like em loud but I understand the tradeoffs and this is the direction the industry is going, as much as I'd prefer otherwise.

Big phones are thing of the past. 5.5 seems to be the size that sells. Companies need to make profits to stay in business.

Lol says who? Big phones sells. I guess you never heard of the Note series. Besides the point of having two phones is to satisfy the masses. One regular and one phablet. 5.5 isn't even on phablet territory these days......too small. As much as I criticize Samsung....at least they got their format right.

Well everyone ran straight to 5.5 this year. So far Moto has announced 5 5.5 devices, OP3, S7E, Nexus Marlin, Axon 7, etc. So someone thinks that is a good size.

I'd rather have the Axon 7 be a Nexus device than have a phone with a bottom speaker. The Axon 7 has the best sound of any Android phone out right now, including HTC. And, it has smaller bezels with a better screen ratio than the 6P.

I had Note 3, and 4. You can't compare Samsung Note to Nexus 6 or 6P. Nexus 6 and 6p are just big phones with ZERO software features to take advantage of that. Note 5 OS is optimized to take advantage of the big screen and not to mention sPen.

Don't get me wrong, I am a Nexus loyal (have 6p and 5x) but Note series is different. Besides, Note 5 has a much smaller profile and feels much smaller in the hand than 6P and both have the same screen size screen.

Its simple folks, if 6 inch size was a hit and sold like hot cakes, google will make more 6 inch phones. If 6p profile sold like hot cakes, google will make more 5.7 inch phones. These companies look for profit and google is still trying to find that sweet size spot. This year, it's 5.5 inch and I think they will stick with that going forward.

Just my thoughts nothing more.

It's definitely an interesting device; one if the ones I'm looking most forward to playing with. I made an ad I can't share here for the Axon 7, but the gist was that it's exactly what we had thought HTC would release this year.

You're right; N fixes the multiple windows part, but doesn't close the rest of the gap between Note and Nexus lines in terms of extra functionality the Note is intended to possess.

Re: Phone size. Everybody I know, personally, save one individual, when I've asked about the size of their 5.7" or larger phones, replied with something like "No, it's not too big," in a tone of voice that sounded like "but I wish it was smaller." Other than that one person, nobody has ever replied "It's great! I love it!" Much less "I wish it was bigger!" There was one colleague who insisted he loved his gigantic Note something-or-other. But, as soon as his contract was fulfilled, he went with something much smaller, next time around.

I can understand how those of you that use your devices as media entertainment centers want large displays and walloping stereo sound, but many people, perhaps most, mainly want a mobile communications device that can also display/play media, rather than a marginally pocket-sized home theater system ;)

I'm, admittedly, biased. For me, 5.5" is the very top end. I can even appreciate the advantages. But I prefer smaller. Thus, and assuming these rumors are more-or-less accurate, I'll probably go with the Marlin's little brother: The Sailfish.

Disappointed it's 5.5", but hopefully with bottom facing speakers they will minimize the bezels and make it a friendlier size to hold. Not crossing my fingers though, seems like Samsung is the only manufacture that has figured out people want tiny bezels. Just don't make anything curved, omg.

Not ditching my 6P anytime soon but glad to see the slight reduction in size. There are times when I wish the 6P was slightly smaller. Loss of front facing speakers is unfortunate but if it results in a smaller package it is worth the tradeoff IMHO. Lack of 64gb size is a bit puzzling. Smaller screen, more efficient chip and "N" should result in improved battery life hopefully.

If this info is accurate; I don't see any strong reason to replace my 6P.

In all fairness, there usually isn't a strong or compelling reason to replace a 6-9 month old phone... unless you just weren't happy with it when you got it.

Yeah, keeping the huge battery, having the smarter Doze in Android N, using a significantly more efficient SoC and presumably more efficient screen should take the already very good battery life of the 6P and push it into great battery life. That's assuming the 3450 mAh number isn't a code holdover from the 6P and that it's actually the same size. I'd like to actually see the device, at least in pictures and have some sort of idea of how well it's executed before dismissing it.

This is far from disappointing news for me. I'm very happy to hear these specs and ready to upgrade to this. I'm coming from the original LG Nexus 5 so you can see how this phone is a HUGE improvement.

yeah I could see that... better screen, better battery, better processor, speakers in the same place, more RAM, better software, better charging tech, presumably metal shell, more RAM, better camera... lots to love :)

Are they bottom-firing speakers, or are they a single front-firing tweeter with a bottom-firing subwoofer, like on the HTC 10?

You could be right, but I hope not. I too am a Nexus 6 user and I don't want anything smaller. If this is the case, it's 'hello Note series' for me when I'm finally ready to replace the ol' N6.
