I've been an owner of different kinds of HTC phones for the past 3 years (so i know how to work a camera). Never have I had trouble with any of the cameras until now. I recently purchased the HTC One. It takes about 10 pics before I can get a decent picture. Besides the camera, I'm also having issues with the back and home buttons being unresponsive. Tmobile going to send me another HTC One tomorrow and I'm really hoping I just had a defective device. Below are three pics I took (of a sharpie) right now with my HTC one. It doesn't matter where I tap to focus, It just doesn't respond to what I want it to do :(

I've had this issue with my tmibile one as well but mine focuses sometimes. My buttons sometimes are unresponsive

The HTC One won't automatically switch the macro mode like, ya know, every other smartphone ever made. Try turning this on and try it again.

I just spoke with a T Mobile representative and they told me that they were aware of the camera and the home and back buttons non responsive and that there will be a update in the future but does not know when

I hope that update comes soon, thanks.

... its struggles to focus under any setting. Its a big bummer. :( I hope a software update fixes the issue, soon.

Why are they sending you a new one if it is a software issue?

Many people are not having issues with their HTC Ones, so maybe mine is just a defective phone. When I called Tmobile today, they said not many people were calling about these issues, so thats why they are sending another one. Then there are people who are being told by Tmobile that it is a software issue. So I'm not sure which one it is... and who knows when the software update will be available.

Tomorrow, I'll either have a phone that does not have these issues, or I'll just be forced to wait for a software update that may or may not fix the issues...

Wondering how close you were to that sharpie? I tested mine and I can get good focus at 2.5 inches but less than that it won't focus.

It was maybe a good 3 inches.. the third pic was the furthest away. But i also have trouble with objects a foot or two away.. I really want to like this phone...

Well it seems isolated so hopefully your replacement works. A foot should be no problem. Is the lense smudged? I hate to ask but I've had a tiny tiny smudge affect the camera.

I have the Sprint variant, but my issue was the opposite. Anything far away wouldnt focus. Just got a refurbished one and it's working beautifully.

I too had my wife and I Ones replaced with the same issues as you. The new ones came with the same software version . issues still there. However, I do notice that the in call volume with HD voice is much louder and clearer than it was before. Hopefully, there is an update in the works
