i dont know what happened with the HDR photo but the entire left side ended up blurry

HDR will be susceptible to camera movement, so it could be that you moved a little before it was done.

Btw, why are all the images here so small, like 960x542? I'm guessing that a 4mp photo would be bigger than that, or am I wrong?

I am not arguing with you. I am correcting you. There is an important difference. You can continue to disagree with me but you will continue to be wrong. Go look at the macro of the flowers a few pages back. Why aren't you complaining the background is blurry? It is the same situation.

I will continue to stand by the opinion that in particular, the billboards (the huge ones, not the smaller ground level ones) should be sharper. Do I expect them to be as sharp as if they were the focal point? No. But should they be sharper and have I seen other situations like this with other cameras where they would be sharper? Yes. It seems like you don't want to admit that this camera has any shortcomings at all. That's just not the case.

You indicated that you were considering not buying the phone because you didn't think the letters on a distant wall were sharp enough when they were clearly not the focal point. First of all the picture that you guys are arguing about is only 579 x 1024 pixels so it has been significantly compressed. How can you make any conclusion about sharpness based on that? An uncompressed One picture is 2688 x 1520. To let that affect your decision on buying a phone is a bit overboard. I think everyone that sees that picture would think it was good, even in it's compressed state.

Wow, that is pretty impressive. Hard to be entirely objective due to different amounts of light in the 3 images, but the One stands up remarkably well - I actually think it's better than the RX100 image in this instance. Yes, there is some blowing of the whites but hardly surprising.

Yeah, I thought it was pretty good for a phone. I hope the recent europe upgrade can help with the blowouts.

I don't understand why they are arguing. This phone has the best camera on a smartphone I have ever seen. Reviews about the s4 and the ONE are saying the ONEs camera is every bit as good if not better than the s4s. It's a smartphone camera so you're not gonna get the performance a dedicated camera will you. STOP ARGUING! Lol

Some people need it to be an us vs them thing to feel superior in their tech. The One checks the boxes I need and I love it. Because I love it, some people feel the need to hate it. That's why some android fanboys detest apple, when apple is in fact a solid platform that is targeted at someone else. I don't get a phone to be superior over others, I get it because it compliments me.

Personally I think that photo looks pretty good and do not see much noise in it at all. Unlike some of the other shots that have been posted recently including some of the others posted today. Which isn't an argument for those unclear about that. Just observations.
