HTC one conection to HTC media link

i have been able to connect the media link to my HTC one..but the question is: how do you get the phone to multi task after connecting to the media link? i.e. use your phone function like making calls, receive calls etc.. while watching a movie on your TV via the link??

well..i tried everything...or just about..swiping the 3 fingers when the movie is on my phone screen...i just dont know how to put it in the multi task mode after connecting it to the TV..

i did it once by chance so i ended up with the movie playing on my TV while being able to use the phone as i do in normal circumstances...

Once you are connected to the media link and the media is playing on the TV, just navigate to where you want on your phone and the media will continue on the TV. Its the same as when you play music on your phone, if you hit the home button for example, the music carries on playing. Media controls appear in the notification bar at the top of the screen.

when i navigate while the media link being connected it doesnt take me to the usual screen.i.e. when not connected.
the screen looks like you in 'safe mode' similar to what you see on desktop PCs when connected to media link. it doesnt provide the option to call etc..
i tried with the notification bar but to no avail. it just gives me an option to come out from the media connected state to the normal state.

once by chance i was able to go to the usual screen while being connected and the movie playing on TV screen.
what could it be?
