HTC One Developer Edition a Bogus unlicked phone?

You have the HTC one sales figures already?

IPhone. The only other phone that is offered in a 64gb model in all markets. They're a fraction of total iPhone sales, and that's with apple being one of the top vendors. What makes you think htc, which already only sells a fraction of what Apple sells, would be able to sell the 64gb one in high enough numbers to recoup the increased costs?

There's a big difference between selling a large capacity unlocked model for full price and selling a subsidized one through the carrier. The only reason they are offering it through att is because the unlocked version is recouping the costs for HTC. (The subsidized one won't)

Also, we know the market is tiny based on Apple. We know it for a fact, and its something you can't argue yourself out of.

Why is it so hard for you to admit you are in the extreme minority here? You did this in another thread too, until enough people posted that you finally (seemed at least) to 'get' it.

Pray tell what thread was that? So nice to know you're stalking me. LOL

And I don't think I am in the minority here. Here being this website. I think most people here would prefer the extra room, given a choice. But you have to remember, that choice is not being given. When your choice is 32gb or nothing, or in the case of the S4 right now, 16gb or nothing, some people will take what they can get even if it's not what they would really prefer.

Your attitude is curious. All sorts of things are sold in different sizes and premium versions. Using your logic, no high end cars or perfume or clothing or whatever would ever exist because the market is smaller for those things. Thank goodness everyone doesn't think that way. It would be a very boring and very limited world. And you wouldn't even have your HTC phone. because you'd have a 16GB Apple or Samsung instead.

Look dude, this website is a tiny fraction of the market. You ARE NOT representative of the market at large and the sales numbers bear this out. All of those examples you cite, above and in your other thread, have no bearing on what is being discussed. HTC is not ferrari or lamborghini. They cater to the mass market, which does not demand high end 64gb devices. That will not change any time soon, and major manufacturers with the exception of Apple will not offer 64gb handsets outside of developer editions and the like. Period, end of story.

Do us all a favor, accept you are wrong, and drop it.

Nope. Never. But thanks for playing the game where you think you can tell others what to do and how to think. Not sure what's up with that. Anyway, here's an idea. How about you accept that other people have different needs. Again, if this were merely a popularity contest, HTC wouldn't even exist and you'd be stuck using an iPhone. Clearly there is a market for larger devices. If there were not, people wouldn't ask for them and manufactures wouldn't keep making them, even in a developer model. Period, end of story. Not sure why you want to make some sort of war out of this. It's fine if you don't have need for more storage. But you shouldn't be attacking those that do.

Note that the 64gb HTC one is the same price as the 16gb iPhone. There is a big difference in the price of the 64gb iPhone and the similar one x. The iPhone at $850 is too expensive, and the one x at $650 is a bargain. You can't use the iPhone to measure the HTC one as their pricing is different.

People AREN'T asking for them, which is what you don't understand. People didn't ask apple to make a 64gb iPhone, and the market wouldn't bat an eye if Apple dropped it. The market is just too small for htc to invest the resources in offering it on all carriers.

Also, as in the other thread you're trying to spin this into a 'you say the market doesn't exist so you're trying to tell me what I need in a phone'. That wasn't the case then and it isn't the case now. I have no doubt you want 64gb in a phone. What I'm saying (which I've said over a half dozen times already) is that the market as a whole does not have the demand for a model at this size, which is why manufactures shy away from it. These companies are in the business of making money, and a 64gb variant would not be profitable enough to be worthwhile.

You're actually proving my point for me. Apple charges what they charge precisely BECAUSE they know that sales will be low. If Apple thought there was enough demand for a 64gb iPhone, they would lower the price to increase sales. As it stands, they charge significantly more to make as much profit as possible for a very low volume device. HTC couldn't get away with that, which is why they won't sell it on all carriers.

Ah..people didn't ask for them so Apple made them and continues to make them just for the hell of it. Of course. Makes perfect sense.

What is this great cost to HTC to make the 64GB model. I've built many a computer and worked in electronic manufacturing for many years. These things are usually designed with the option to add a chip or not or just install the larger chip instead of the smaller version. The Design is already there. The only cost is the chip. What am I missing?
