HTC One: Developer Edition LTE signal strength weak on AT&T

I don't think I've ever seen full LTE strength on my developer edition on AT&T. Most of the time it's one or two bars. This is also my second One, and I saw this on the previous One. Calls are fine and data is ok, so I'm not going to worry about it too much, but my iPhone 5 certainly was better. speedtest.net speeds are less than on the iPhone.

Anyone else with a DE version see this? Is there a difference in radios between an AT&T One and DE one?

I wouldn't think. I've only seen one or two bars but they only upgraded a tower in my area so I am gonna wait until they upgrade the remaining towers

Re: Developer Edition LTE singal strength weak on AT&T

ive seen up to 4 bars on my Dev. Ed. HTC One w/ AT&T LTE. Most of the time only 2 or 3 but bars dont mean everything... i still get 25-35 mbps DL constantly. and 10-20 mbps UL. I think AT&T over exaggerates there signal receptions bars on their branded devices. If you look at your network info in settings and compare it to an AT&T device your signal strength will probably be the same. I noticed that when i had both the AT&T version and the Dev Ed. One... signal bars were different but signal strengh in settings were the same..

Re: Developer Edition LTE singal strength weak on AT&T

Don't forget bars are NOT the best indicator of real signal strength, check out the signal strength in settings and see what you getting. Remember the iPhone was showing more bars than it was actually getting in terms of signal strength and both Apple and AT&T covered their respective butts on that one pretty quickly. Don't forget your holding it wrong, lol.

Oh and I had the GS4 which would not pull in 4G at my house and barely got Edge. While I am still not getting 4G I am getting 3 bars of Edge on my H1 Dev Edition (I live in a fringe area) so I am not unhappy and I do see a number of bars 3 at least on LTE at my office.

Re: Developer Edition LTE singal strength weak on AT&T

I have an HTC one Developer Edition and AT&T GoPhone service. I'm trying to figure out what the settings are to get 4G or LTE service on the phone. Can you tell me how you have your HTC one DE configured?

New configured APN or default AT&T APN
Network mode: GSM only, GSM/WCDMA auto, GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto
Data roaming: On or Off
Network operators:

FYI - AT& GoPhone service now allows access to there 4G and LTE network.

Thanks!

Mine also shows two bars most of the time. But the connection speed is more or less the same as compared to iphone (showing full bars).

Re: Developer Edition LTE singal strength weak on AT&T

Signal bars are not a good indicator, the dBm that you see is much better at telling you how much you are getting.

I didn't think you could get lte on developer editions of the phone?

Re: Developer Edition LTE singal strength weak on AT&T

I'm having trouble getting any LTE period. I just switched to the $60 GoPhone plan, and even in the store I couldn't get any LTE when my One was right up next to other phones getting 4G. I'm using the default APN settings, all radios are on, data roaming on, etc. Any ideas?

Re: Developer Edition LTE signal strength weak on AT&T

I have had both the ATT and Dev version(using the dev version now). While I see some differences in the bars indicated, my signal tests seem to be consistent with both phones for both LTE and below.

The DE I got on day 1 works on AT&T LTE.

I've also never seen more than 2 LTE bars anywhere in the DC metro area, but as others have said dB is a better indicator of signal strength.

ADRIANB, 08BlackWRX or ANYONE can you tell me what settings you're using on your HTC One DE that allows you to get LTE speeds. I'm using the default APN on mine and can only get EDGE and I know I live in a 4G/LTE coverage area. Thanks guy's!

If you post the settings you're looking for I'll put them up. I had the dude at the att store set mine up.

Also, now that I'm actually paying attention to it, my LTE is coming in at 3-4 bars most of the time when I'm outside. Inside it's 1-2 bars.

Re: Developer Edition LTE signal strength weak on AT&T

Adriandb The settings needed are the APN or Access Point Name that you are using. It is in Settings/Wireless or Networks area. Click on the APN that is highlighted/checked and post screen shots of all the settings.

Re: Developer Edition LTE signal strength weak on AT&T

I'm having the same problem. I have an AT&T HTC One that I've flashed successfully to the Brightstar ROM (Dev Edition) and even got the OTA 4.4 update--I never get more than one bar of LTE no matter where I am. I dont have any problems with the speed though; so for now the issue seems to be cosmetic. Interestingly enough; when using the Google Play Edition ROM with the 4.4.2 update; I always get strong LTE and even higher speeds than on Brightstar. I am wondering if it's an issue with the Radio drivers.

Re: Developer Edition LTE signal strength weak on AT&T

Make sure in settings, mobile data, network mode that it is set to use "LTE Auto"
