HTC One: Do you honestly need a screen protector?

Re: Do you honestly need a screen protector?

I always get a zagg (invisible shield) for my phones, I had a run in with bad luck on one of my phones and have bought one ever since. I do like the quality of the zagg products and the feel doesn't bother me. I rather have it take the hit and replace it since it has a lifetime warranty. If it gets to become dirty or unusable i just switch it out for a new one, plus! it was only 10 bucks for one.

I'm tying to move away from cases, but I am scared to set this thing down anywhere. Won't it dent or scratch easily on the back?

My phones do get little imperfections over time, so if you want to keep your phone pristine then you need a case. But, I've never had anything major and, for my taste at least, those small imperfections are worth going without a case. Peering VERY closely at my phone right now I can see two tiny tiny dents in the aluminum, but that's it. Nothing I'd notice from any normal viewing distance.

If you look just above and to the right of the USB port you'll see one of those dings. Perfectionists would be unhappy, but it doesn't bother me. If it bothers you, get a case, if you don't think it would, then maybe you can do without.

Dent? Maybe. Scratch? Unlikely. Anodized aluminium is pretty hard. The only thing likely to scratch the body or the screen is sand or rocks. Avoid those types of things and you should be fine.

A dent would annoy me all the way to madness, so I'm not sure, u have never dropped a phone but... I don't know.

It would probably have to be a decent drop, the kind that would probably damage internals case or not. It's your choice but I never use a case or screen protector. In five years of owning a smartphone I've dropped one ONCE resulting in almost no visible damage but it stopped my front camera from working. I have insurance, I'm more than happy to pay the deductible if I do something stupid. I'm not more than happy to have a bulky hunk of plastic covering my device or a hazy slip of plastic over my screen. If I didn't have insurance I might use a case but since I've only had to make one claim... I go naked all the time.

Re: Do you honestly need a screen protector?

I will say this to everyone:

In the last 5 years, I have sold THOUSANDS of phones. A vast majority of them have multiple scratches on the screen by the end of their upgrade term. Guess what would have avoided that? A $20 screen protector.

I just don't see how the risk isn't worth the investment. Spend $20 on an invisible screen protector that does you no harm.... or have a very, very, VERY good chance (95% plus) that your screen will get scratched in 2 years' time. Despite what anyone says, glass scratches when you don't even know what in the world would have scratched it. You may be the most careful person with your phone, and yet, still get a scratch.

Once again, I have sold THOUSANDS of phones. This is the trending pattern. Just buy a darn screen protector for $20, and don't worry about whether or not your screen will get scratched. Heck, Zagg and Ghost Armor will even replace the screen protector for FREE if that gets scratched....

Like Nike says: Just do it.

Re: Do you honestly need a screen protector?

I agree. I usr a screen protector for every phone I have ever owned. I used a ghost armor on my one x and am going to get one soon for my one. I have a cheap one from my local cell phone kiosk at present. My phones always look like new.

Re: Do you honestly need a screen protector?

I personally don't use any. Rarely use a case. Never bought insurance. Just a careful guy. Everyone is different.

I have insurance, but I also have a case, I need to sleep.

I could not agree more than I can agree with you. If that made no sense it is because I forgot to sleep :p.

I have had bad experiences with Zagg in the past. The thing peeled off and attracted lint to the edges.

I'm sure they do. My last phones definitely had 1 or 2 small scratches on them. Granted, they were very small and hardly noticeable, but they were there. I never get to resell my phones because my old ones always get "claimed" by family members...so frankly, I'm willing to live with the risk of getting some scratches because I prefer that over the feel of the screen with a protector on it.

Here you felt what a screen with a Moshi iVisorXT or a Spigen glas.tr protector felt like?

Re: Do you honestly need a screen protector?

My spigen glass.tr arrived yesterday. I will use this type on every phone from here on out.

Really like the looks, feel, protection from it. Also a great combo with the neo hybrid.

The new HD Zagg screen protectors as well as ghost armor feel almost exactly like glass does. I have tested this on people. I ask them to close their eyes and feel on different screens. If they can consistently tell me which phone has the screen protector and which doesn't, they get the screen protector free.

I've never given one out.

Re: Do you honestly need a screen protector?

I finally broke down and installed a screen protector today. It is honestly not too bad. No bubbles or lint under it as f as I can tell. So are you guys still using screen protectors?

the Glas.T series doesn't work well with the One because of the front speakers. Glas sticks out and that's great when you drag down the finger to open the notification area
