AC Question

Hello,

So i just got my HTC One E8 (also known as the M8Sw dual sim phone) from China. While I have changed the language to English, there are a lot of Chinese pre-installed apps on the device, i have uninstalled most of them. a few refuse to be uninstalled.
What baffles me most is all Google apps are missing, mail, play store, etc. I am considering re-installing the android base OS for HTC One E8, pure English, non operator based OS.

Can i get some pointers on where i can download the software?

Regards

What is so terrifying is i can't sync my contacts and calendar using the native email app on the phone, and using Microsoft active sync doesn't work because the google account is not a business account. i am really upset right now...

I don't think there's an English rom available yet, so you will have to bear with the stock apps. However, you can download and install GMS from HTC Marketplace which comes with your E8. GMS is a Google pack that you can install without rooting your Android phones from China. I am using an E8 myself 😉

Can you send the link please. I am having same issue. I purchased HTC One M8Sw from Asia and much of the content is in chinese. Please help. If someone can walk me through the rooting process I will Paypal them some money for their trouble.

Thanks!

1.HTC M8SW is a custom version for China Unicom, you can not find an official firmware for this phone except Unicom version.
2. It's not easy to root this phone, first you need to unlock it because the phone itself was set to S-OFF status.
3. If you only need to use google service, simply download Google Frame from HTC market.
4. Another problem is that it's all google services are forbidden to use in China, so you need some proxy app to help you to use google services.

The best way for you to solve your problem is to ask some Chinese to help you to install those apps. And about those apps you want to uninstall, simply use the app manager to stop them since there is no way to uninstall it except root your cell phone.

Hope this will help you unless your problems were solved already.
