HTC One - Kingoapp root ?

Hi

I am a noob for this whole thing i know so please bare me as i searched very well and still couldnt get a decent answer for my questions ...

I have an HTC One , international . ( how to find out btw if its really international or its another version ? )

Anyway i unlocked it following the htcone dev site . and then i used this programs from this Root Android phone, flash custom ROM and manage your Android devices, Rooting Freeware Download - Kingo which says it roots all and actually the process completed successfully . but when i check my phone using a root checker it says its not rooted .

now my question is , i didnt install SU , and i want to know if i go to fastboot and i enter recovery will that brick my phone in case it was not rooted properly ? or will it erase it ? coz i remember once i entered this and i got the red exclamation mark and it took me a while to get rid of it ..

Hello,

First look in your applications list. Do you see SuperSU or Superuser application? If not then chances are its not installed.

Next if you go into your bootloader and select RECOVERY. If you have a custom recovery installed it will boot into it, otherwise it will attempt to go into the stock recovery. Regardless of the outcome it WILL OR SHOULDN'T BRICK YOUR PHONE.

I would check first to see if you have Superuser/SuperSU app. Then that gives you a good starting point. You can find information on flashing a custom recovery either CWM (ClockWorkMod) or TWRP (TeamWinRecoveryProject) from their respective sites. They also have apps that will assist you in the installation.

No i didnt find any SU app . so i think im not rooted , but when i go to fastboot i see Tampered and UNLOCKED is that mean im rooted or just unlocked ?

Just means your bootloader is unlocked.

I would download Goo Manager and under Menu within the app have it install the custom recovery and then apply root access.

See above screen shot select Install OpenRecoveryScript which is your custom recovery. Then you can install SuperSU app which will apply root access.

I did that just now and i got this message : no recoveries were found for your device .

Ok let me ask u please what happen if i go and apply the cwm now ? and which is better cwm or cwm2 or twrp ?

My preference is TWRP. Its basically all the same deal, some just prefer one over the other.

As for applying the recovery now it should work fine whichever way you go, CWM/TWRP.

If you do have problems with that method let me know. We can always get you hooked up with the Android SDK for the basic ADB/Fastboot stuff and manually download and push the recovery to the device.

Yes I don't see why not. When it comes to unlocking and rooting the HTC One its all the same boat. Only difference is when it comes to flashing custom ROMs, kernels, radios, etc and in the event you use the RUU package to restore to factory stock then it has to be carrier/region specific to your model.

What is the best ROm u advice me to install for my HTC one ?

Root Checker app needs updating. It currently looks for the su binaries in system/bin but now they are stored in system/xbin and this why it gives a false report.

If you go to the recovery option it will boot you into your custom recovery that you installed. No problem, you can reboot from it.

Unlocking the bootloader wiped your phone, once that is over your fine. Applying root will not change/erase things.
