Ok so my HTC one M7 just died yesterday. As it is right now it can't do anything: buttons don't light up, the LED in the top speaker doesn't light up and the screen, of course, doesn't work either. I already tried to do a factory reset and a few other combinations of holding down button combinations for a certain ammount of time. There was pretty much no reason for my phone to break, in fact i watched youtube videos on it just seconds before I noticed that it wouldn't unlock the screen or turn back on. In the meantime I didn't drop it, or do anything else with it that would have broken the screen.
Really I loved the phone up until that point. I dropped it a few times but there were no issues at all. Is there anything I can do before giving up and buying a M8?

You may have the proximity sensor issue. Place the phone under a lamp or other bright light and then wake it from sleep mode. If it is this issue your phone should wake up. Do a restart and you should be fine for now. These sensors go bad on all manufacturer's phones and act up from time to time.
