Kevin, my concern with this is if you inadvertently set your phone down, some malicious person grabs it, they can wipe your phone very quickly.

Keep your phone in your pocket so kids don't mess with it? I know this may not be ideal for some but it would definitely fix that particular issue.

I would be pissed!
Its true you shouldn't forget your password, but factory resetting????
I see the benefit of it though, but if that was an option in settings, I would probably have it off
Worst part is...a thief can have the phone factory reset, then sell it as if it was a brand new phone
As I said before, my daughter pick pockets me. So I don't even know she took it.

I'm perfectly ok with it. If you're worried about forgetting your password then don't use one. That presents other issues though, of course.
I'm not sure why this is being perceived as a problem or issue at all.
I personally think you should have the option to disable it. Most likely, someone stealing the phone isn't going to try a bunch of random passwords, they would just go to recovery and wipe anyway.
The reason for me is that sometimes my daughter will pick pocket my phone and play with it, and attempt to unlock it. Personally I don't want my phone to be wiped just because my daughter was fooling around with my phone.

Guys if you look at all the posts by the creator of this thread in the m8 forum they basically all are topics that are aimed towards creating controversy and arguments. I remember last year same time and same type of threads. Poster doesn't plan on buying a HTC one or using one. In fact every year he's the cheerleader for the new Samsung...I didn't get a m8 , yet but i like to see balanced discussions from users of the HTC one or those that have real input help those wanting to learn real facts

This is not true, I post things I find interesting, whether it be the HTC One M8 or Galaxy S5
If I saw a negative post on the Galaxy S5, I would fairly post it as well
Not trying to start a debate, but most of the interesting things I've seen you post about tend to be on the negative/critical side. Nothing wrong with this, that's just how I take them. Everything needs a good critic! That's how things get better
