HTC One M8 Backup abusing our Wifi connection

Over this past week I've been having issues with significant lag on my home network. I finally tracked the source down to my wife's phone last night. Some backup function on the phone was pushing over 1 MBps worth of data through my router to the internet, and I only have about a 1 MBps upload bandwidth from our ISP. So it was using everything, and the rest of the network suffered. This was going on from about 8pm until after 11pm. We had been taking pictures and video of our kids' Christmas program, so I'm sure that contributed to the amount of data.

We went through and turned off the Photos Backup function, Google+ backups, and disabled the Backup & Reset backup in the settings. I also made sure that Verizon Cloud was not turned on and nothing was being backed up there.

Doing that did not stop the backup that was in progress. The only indication that something was going was an icon in the notification area consisting of two arrows in a circle.

I don't know if turning those functions off will prevent this from happening again. I would really like to know what program was causing the issue so that I can either disable it, or preferably set it up so it will only backup at lower use times.

Any help would be appreciated.
