HTC One M8 Circuit board (mother board problem)

This is my first time posting in this forum. So please bear with me.

My problem started when my phone is charging than usual. There was a pop-up notification saying I should try other charging cables (but I am using the HTC standard cable). When I tried other cables, it did not solve the issue. I tried restarting the phone a couple of times but with no avail. Then I decided to turn it off and back on. But after turning it off, it won't turn back on. I brought it to a technician but he says the problem is with the 'board' which I thought was the circuit board or mother board. Upon further research, there are different circuit boards in HTC One M8, I'm not sure which exactly is the concern at.

Does anyone experienced this problem? Or can someone give his/her opinion on this matter? Thanks

PS: I live in an area very far from the city, and it would take a couple of weeks before I get back where I can talk to a technician as I do not know someone in our area.

Welcome to Android Central! The technician was most likely referring to the main motherboard. Ask them for an estimate, so you can make a judgment as to whether it's worth the repair cost, or whether this might be a good time to get a new phone.

Any data that was only locally stored will be lost, unfortunately, since the memory chips are being replaced as well. This is why we often remind users to back up or sync data regularly, or make use of the various cloud storage/backup options available to you.

It might not be the main mother board. It's Probably the charging port which is connected to a small board near to the headphone socket. Here is a youtube video.

This small board is shown at 2.40.

Do you think that component could cause the OP's problem of not even being able to power on, though? (Assuming, of course, that the battery hasn't been completely drained.)

I'm also thinking it's the USB board having issues (having had it happen to me twice), but that may or may not be related to the non-start issue. Hopefully the OP can clarify. I can't say for sure what's going on, but I'm guessing the battery is simply drained if it couldn't charge.

Considering the age of the phone, it may not be a bad idea to replace the battery anyway with whatever board needs it too. I'm guessing by now the battery has a fair bit of degradation even without the charging issue, and would be cheaper to do that with the phone already apart if planning to keep it around a while longer.

Noted. Thanks

My phone is 6 months old. I used to have the problem of not powering on when I dropped it. But it was sorted and fixed by the same technician. At that time, my phone was 3 months old. I'm not quite sure if the battery is the problem. Anyway, I found a 'used' HTC One M8 online here in our country. The problem with the unit is that it is 'stuck' on the htc logo and does not proceed in booting when turning it on. It is at a low price and I really considered buying it and replace the damage components from my phone. What are the things should I consider in pursuing this?

I know when I had sent my M8 to a local tech, they said there's a couple different USB boards depending on which version of the phone you have. Without being a tech myself, I'd let them sort it out instead of trying to fixing it myself. Just my personal preference.

I would probably fo the same thing. Will try to consult other tech, will see if they have the same findings. thanks
