HTC One (M8): Display Battery Percentage?

Is it possible to have the battery percentage at the top of my screen? If so how?

Settings / battery manager / then check ' show battery level. That should put the % at the top.

That's pretty nifty but is there a way to turn off the battery icon? Don't need both on the display at the same time.

I got the percentage at the top of my screen but there is still the old battery indicator. Is there any way to get rid of that and only have the percentage?

I find that having the percentage makes me fixate on it too much to the detriment of enjoying my phone and my life.

What I sometimes do is shut it off and use Battery Widget Reborn with the notification priority set to 'Low' so that when I need the percent it's a quick trip into the notification tray away but it's not persistent in my status bar.
