HTC One (M8): Earpiece question

Is it normal for the call volume to come out more toward the left side of the speaker?? Mine seems to sound better when holding left side of phone closer to my ear..

Yes because that is where the speaker is. The whole grill is not the speaker, same as the bottom.

Normal, I guess. I thought it was a defect, but it turns out many are the same way. I haven't been able to verify otherwise.
