HTC One (M8): No Beats Audio? How does it compare to the M7?

I'd like the audio professionals in the thread to recommend an app and the best settings to mirror the sound I get from my M8 or M7. If its all in the equalizer then I should be able to get my Nexus 5 to sound just as good in my car, right?

There are other factors involved, such as the method of travel (D/A converter, Bluetooth, etc). And, Beats is a little more than EQ, there's some compression, gain, and possibly spacial manipulation in the stereo field. Nothing special as far as audio enhancement goes and you can probably find apps that do similar things (I never looked). If it's a dynamic algorithm, you're not going to replicate it.
But, as stated initially, if you are relying on something like the phone's headphone jack (A/D converter) there is going to be a difference in quality that can't be compensated for.

Not too mention the M8 also got a new amp although not sure if that's just for the speakers or the headphone output as well.

The beats audio on the HTC was nothing more then a bass booster. The m8 actually has good sound now and is far better. The m8 H/K version is simply amazing I have owned all three , the m7, the m8 and the m8 H/K edition, the h/K edition actually has an amazing DAC built into it that restores quality to your mp3's to make them sound of a higher bit-rate, the audio sound cleaner, and more accurate, as well as having a much more open soundstage, the m7 with the beats audio was nothing more then a built in audio equalizer that boosted bass and treble a little. Not saying that it didn't make it sound better but HTC dropped beats because they weren't delivering on the audio side of things, so HTC teamed up with BoomSound and Harmon kardon and there is a significant difference in sound. Beats was just a pre set equalizer setting. The boom sound actually amplifies the sound and makes it clearer. The H/K version has a nice DAC, an audio stabilizer, an amplifier, and has H/K signature sound. I haven't heard a better sounding phone. The beats audio in the m7 may have sounded ok through headphones but the speakers on the phone sounded thin and inaccurate. I love all of my HTC phones but the m8 has really improved over the m7 in the sound department.

Htc should patent the " 2 front facing stereo speakers" otherwise its only a matter of time before iPhone does it and they patent it and sue any android phone who uses it. Htc is on to something and this us what sets them apart from the rest, they are innovative, and actually think the phones design through rather then just throwing a bunch of pointless nothings onto the phone. Such as a 4k display, the 4k display will make the battery of your phone drain quicker and slow your phone down, HTC knows this and they also know with a 5" phone your not going to notice any significant difference in the picture quality between a 1080 and 4k display. Htc also know that pixels mean about as much to picture quality as wattage does to sound quality, their 4mp rear ultra pixel camera is amazing and takes better pictures then my sister's iPhone 6 and my gf 's samsung s5. Unless your blowing an image up to poster size you will never know a difference in the pixels. If pixels were all that mattered then I would say HTC has the best front facing camera at 5mp over iPhones 1.2 and Samsung's 1.7 mp front camera. Also HTC has a depth sensor to gather more info of an image allowing a lot of changes to be made after taking the photo, and ultra pixels allows it to take low light images like no other. Htc is very innovative and trys new things rather then trying to be like every other phone this is what sets them apart and makes them so awesome. Iphone 6 even adopted the look of the HTC one m8. They focus on what really matters on a phone and try and give you just that, "what really matters". Also every other phone when hooked up to a pc to load pictures or audio onto your laptop the htc automatically downloads an app from HTC that separates all of your phones content into 5 seperate labeled folders , rather then like other phones where you have to root through all your folders and and find what your looking for. It's the little things.
