So the last few days my stock HTC One M8 has been acting very strange

- Apps refreshing while I'm using them (Snapchat, Facebook, Instagram)
- Screen lighting up every minute or two even when locked and I'm not getting any notifications?
- Screen rotating even though "Auto-Rotate is turned off

The past few days my stock M8 has been acting very odd, it is running 5.0.1

- Apps refreshing while in use
- Screen lighting up even though it is locked and I am not getting any notifications
- Screen rotating even though "Auto-Rotate" is off?

I have reset the phone but to no avail, Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks for that could you just keep the thread posted here? I made a mistake posting in the M9 section.

Factory reset the phone, restarted multiple times and have been in safe mode

The fact that this is all occurring in Safe Mode as well makes me suspect some issue with the hardware, or perhaps corrupted firmware. I'm not sure what your next step should be, though. On a Samsung or Nexus device, I'd suggest reinstalling the firmware (which doesn't require rooting). On an M8, though, I think it does need to be rooted to do this.

It must be firmware cause it stopped doing everything listed above for a few hours yesterday but is doing it again

I would've thought it's hardware. Maybe you should contact HTC's customer service and see what they can do for you.

Do you by any chance have a third party charger? I had the same symptoms happen when I used a cheap no name charger - no problems what so ever with a proper HTC charger.

Interesting possibility. Were those kinds of things happening to you only when the phone was charging with that cheap charger?

It's so odd technically what the phone is doing is just refreshing everything, I tried watching a video on Facebook but it kept on starting from the start? And its still rotating even though "Auto Rotate" is off.
