HTC One (M8): Trouble Playing MKVs

I'm having a few issues playing MKV files on my M8. Just tells me it can't play the video with no other messages. Has any one else had this happen or got suggestions on how to remedy this?

You may want to check out this app (BSPlayer), the free version is ad supported but if you like it there is a paid version - it will play mkv files

I've been using MX Player which also plays MKV on my M7. But to make sure it wasn't the app, I just installed BSPlayer - still no dice. Won't play

Files are on the SD Card, so i thought that may have been the issue, but I've tried playing from the phone memory and had the same problem

Annnnnnnnnd worked it out. Moral to the story is don't buy a crap no-name brand SD Card. :S

Yeah, lesson learned. If only Nice big cards weren't eleventy billion dollars.

Picked up a 64gb SanDisk UHC at Best Buy in January for $35 bucks. There's deals to be had it there if you look hard enough. Thing is blazing fast.
