HTC One - No sim card error?

Got This Phone August 20th. Have been having that issues on and off ever since. I Am On my 2nd replacement phone and today I have had this issue the entire day. I have turned Airplane mode on and off countless times, reset the phone to factory settings, took the SIM out put it back in. Called AT&T spoke with them countless times. They want me to got to a store to check it out. I work 80 hours a week it is such an inconvenience for me. Probably going to need another replacement phone. I was an iPhone girl, this my first Android and I'm ready to switch back.

I had the same issue, I held the power button down and put the phone on airplane mode, then I held the power button down again to take it off airplane mode and it seemed to have worked. The sim card warning went away and now my internet is back on. Try this to see if it helps. Good luck.

I really think this is a software issue, because this worked for me. Thanks.

This just happened to me again. I cleared out my apps running in the background and restarted my phone. No more problems. Same SIM card. If this issue is still going on I hope this works for you, too.

This happened to me when I first turned my phone on. I just took the card out then put it back in. Read it fine and no more problems.

I just started receiving same msg 2 days ago. Went into settings, apps, under ALL, then phone- force stop and the indicator from top lft hand disappeared, but then I went under settings, Mobile Data and under Network mode it was set to lte/cdma. I tried putting it on automatic, but it said no SIM card inserted so it switchd me to CDMA only. I read a blog that someone said put a few pieces of tape on SIM card- haven't tried yet, but I did take it out for a few min., reinserted, and nothing. Just tried the Air Plane mode on and off and the SIM card error is back!

Thin as you can get. People have fixed this using scotch tape.

I have to say if I paid for a premium device I shouldn't have to fix it with scotch tape.....

Maybe its not the device but the fact that the card is not thick enough to make good contact. Put some tape on it and be done with it.

I'm no tech guy but I think the SIM card size is pretty standard. HTC should have taken that into account and constructed the SIM slot/tray accordingly.

The sim card error is more of a minor annoyance then a real issue. Well at least for me cause it doesn't affect my service in anyway other than an slightly annoying icon.......I have sprint in case anyone was wondering

I've got sprint too and it only happened the first time I turned phone on. Hasn't done it since.

I completely agree. It was annoying enough that I decided to get a new One, T-Mo's jump plan. No issues at all with the replacement.

I have an HTC HD7 and this man's suggestion of sliding a "cereal box" thin cut out into a size of a SIM card WORKS PERFECT FOR ME!

This man's suggestion just saved me from purchasing a new smartphone!

Mister, whoever you are, if I see you in the streets, remind me to buy you a mug of beer! *CHEERS!*

I'm forever indebted to you!

So to sum it up, slide a SIM card size (roughly) preferably use any cereal box or granola box or even your Swiss Miss chocolate box carton, it's the perfect "thickness" to slide on top of your SIM card and it will be snugly fit! It is just loose! Once the SIM card is snugly pushed in through the connection of the SIM card slot, it should work! It can read it easily!

I love my phone so much (even if it is Windows 7), that I want to do everything I can to save it!

Thanks to this man's suggestion, my SIM card error message is gone and I'm back up and running again!

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU x 10^Nth power

Sincerely,
An ever so grateful stranger

there is a small hole right next to where your SIM card is if you take something small like a thumb tack or maybe a paperclip, stick it inside and the sim will pop out just press it back in and hit your power button until your screen goes black and then hit it again until it lights back up and your problem should be solved

I attempted the following and still no luck..
Turned off the phone, reseat the SIM card, turned off and on airplane mode, place tape (3 layers) on the sim, verified it with other at&t sims and cleared all apps running in the background and still no luck. I contacted HTC since my phone is still under warranty and they told me that replacing the sim tray should fix it. They mailed a sim tray to me and still awaiting for its arrival. I am truly hoping this will fix the issue of no SIM card. I would hate to go through the inconvenience of sending my phone for repair.

Re: HTC One - No sim card error? *SOLVED WITH SELOTAPE*

Like other HTC owners, I experienced the same problem after removing the SIM card from my HTC Evo. After that, it would not recognise ANY SIM card, so I knew something was wrong with the phone, not the SIM card. Reading others comments on using card to ensure a better connection, I decided a similar approach and used a piece of selotape since I have one of those SIM cards which is Micro with the outer frame and it keeps falling out. The selotape solves two problems; Firstly it stopped the middle of the SIM card falling out of the frame, and secondly it created just enough extra height to make a better contact in the SIM slot. Problem solved! Phone is working fine again! I was about to chuck it on eBay for scrap and spend ?100 on a new one, so very glad I found this forum and hope this solution helps someone else ;-)

Turn off phone. Insert paper clip to pop out SIM card. Push SIM card back in. Restart phone. Voila!
