Hi guys, I know that you guys might see posts like this time and time again, but I just needed a second opinion

Im on Sprint with an OG EVO 4G, and I want to know which new phone I should upgrade to next month. I posted here because I really, like the HTC One and want to know if it is a good buy on Sprint. I dont use the Camera much, mostly for Snapchat and Instagram. Im more of a social media/gaming person, as I have many high power games on my ASUS Transformer tablet.

Any advice on which device is better for gaming? Any bugs/glitches on the Sprint HTC One?

Thanks,
Tarun S.

I had the Evo 4G before my One too! It's a great phone. No major flaws, although with all phones, I wish it didn't come with bloatware. I've heard that the Samsung is faster than the One, but has more OS lag due to the hefty install. The One however, is quite lean. Never had any slowdown. Might want to read some critical reviews online, see what you can find.

Really, build quality is super important to me. A nice aluminum body is always going to be better than flimsy plastic.

I cannot speak about gaming, but I'll assume it would work like any of the newer phones in that capacity. I too had an OG Evo, and when it died I bought an S3. The S3 was nice, but I prefer onboard storage as it's simply faster. There is no comparison between the Evo4G and the One. Actually there is no comparison between the S3 and the One. The One is really quick with no lag that I've come across, where the S3 (and they say the S4) lag(s) noticeably for no rhyme nor reason from time to time. The S4 has a bigger screen but the One has a nicer picture IMO. The battery in the One outlasts the S3 (or at least MY S3) by a longshot. I use the blinkfeed widget too. If I tire of it, I'll put Nova Launcher on it and customize the phone.

I also tend to use Pulse A LOT as my news app. Do any of you know if Blinkfeed has as many sources as Pulse or Flipboard?

Also, is the Camera great for simple, everyday usage? How is the picture quality overall with the new "Ultrapixels"?.

Thanks for the Responses,
Tarun S.

This camera is great for simple, everyday usage. You will notice some fuzziness when you zoom. But if you just look at the picture itself, it looks just like any other smartphone camera. I really like this camera. Reason is because I usually use my camera at night, and since the camera pixels are so big most of the time I don't even need to use the flash. They take in so much light! You will probably have to get used to the wide angles of the camera and make sure your hand is not it the way but other than that it is an amazing camera for being only 4 megapixels.

I used Pulse a long time ago, but it's pretty slow compared to Blinkfeed. Blinkfeed will update whenever you turn on the phone if you want it to, which is what mine does. I just use Reuters, AP, and 3 tech magazines for the news. There is a lot of stuff, but I think Pulse does have more.

If speakers, and build quality are important to you go with the One. It seems you have simple needs mostly for gaming and social apps. I chose the s4 because of the amazing camera features and quality, sd slot for easy rom flashing /memory upgrade, and removable battery for peace of mind (I take alot of video and pictures so I usually have fully charged spare on me). Shutters and wake up lag I found out is mostly due to touch wiz ui, I've replaced it a minimal nova launcher setup and only rarely get slight hiccups. Both are amazing phones, read the reviews and see what features you'd rather have

I use the android controller(moga?) To hold my phone while playing games like dead trigger and shadowgun, having these beastly speakers is really awesome for gaming and the display is extremely nice.

I was going to get the S4 because of the 13MP camera but I'm really glad I didn't. I like to use the camera a lot for pictures of my family and this ultrapixel camera produces great photos as well as great video. This is my first HTC phone and I'm extremely happy with everything.

Alright cool.

So my last question for any S4 owners, is there really any important use of the Touchwiz gimmicks? Will it be used for more than a week or so?

Thanks

Palm to swipe was my favorite and most useful gimmick feature.

Also found myself using the air gesture's to answer calls. And using them if I am eating greasy food and want to read through something with my phone flat on the table.

You posted this in the HTC ONE thread. Do i need to say any more....lol All the reports i've heard and seen the S4 is a bit laggy. All the features they packed in the software uses up the resources. Dont get me wrong it is a nice device but its goin to a while before Samsung gets it sorted.

Custom launchers or stock Android ui are good tips to stop shutters and skips on the s4. Although I've never felt any glitches with touch wiz on my phone
