Wanted to know if I'm unlucky or if HTC is putting out allot of lemons. I am about to be getting my THIRD HTC one this week. First one quit vibrating after a week. The second one(which possible was a refurb they sent me by mistake) the bottom speaker quit working after a week. I really love the phone and would like to tell people its great but I don't know if I can suggest it do to these problems. So getting to the point who has had hardware problems and what were they? I'd like to get a poll on how many of you got a defect(not including the small gaps and other minor issues I've seen almost everyone saying they have) and how many got a good one. Thanks.

Speakers stop working?

Stopped vibrating?

B-b-but this phone has such great build quality! - said the people that merely held the phone

Further proof that build materials does not equate to build quality.

OAN I hope you get your issues resolved but please understand that there are lemons in EVERY product. Utilize your warranty and let them fix it for you. I wish you the best

Do you even read the threads? I think you've fooled yourself. Also, if you go to the S4 section you'll see the same thing you just said. It is only common when two amazing phones are competing.

Yes I read the threads and if you read the threads in the s4 forum you will see that aside from the one owners invading that forum the discussions largely revolve around the s4 and not the one.

They seem to be much more secure in their purchase. I'm not saying either phone is better than the other but the s4 crowd is far less concerned with the one than the one crowd is with the s4 i.e. you can be critical of the s4 without being accused of being payed by htc etc etc

Take it for what it's worth but just observations.

Got my third replacement in. This one is working fine so far. Hopefully it stays that way this time.

How can you trash the build quality and then say that there are lemons in every product? Isn't that a contradiction? If everyone were having these issues there would be cause for concern. I've read lots of the GS4 threads and the N4 threads and there are plenty of people who have hardware issues with those devices as well. I wouldn't say the build quality of those devices are generally bad. If you get issues rampant throughout a product line then you have some build and quality control issues. I haven't seen that with the One, or any phone lately.

Because lots of the GS4 folks spent weeks upon weeks "invading" these this forum to have their One/GS4 or HTC/Samsung pissing contests. They don't need to do it over there, too. You've been on these threads and you know that's just the plain and simple truth. I'm sure that they are very secure in their purchase now that it's been made. And not that there weren't HTC fans doing the same, and stoking the fires as well, but before either device was in any of our grubby little hands they sure felt the need to bash the One into oblivion. Me thinks thou doth protest too much...

To the OP, I've had no issues whatsoever. I have a few issues with design and functionality, but everything they built is working as advertised for me.

I can't fathom how people's self worth gets so wrapped up in an electronic device. By the vitriol displayed throughout all these threads, regardless of device, you'd think these things cured HIV and cancer. Brought a dead person back to life.
For all intents and purposes, a mobile phone is an entertainment device.
It's not a defibrillator.
Old saying goes, "You can tell the size of a man by the size of the things that upset him."

Well said.

Being an old geezer (55), this reminds me of many things: Ford vs Chevy (60's); VHS vs Beta (70's); PC vs Mac (80's); etc. People seem to have the need to validate their OWN life by letting everyone else know what fools they were to buy the "other" thing! Too sad.

Got mine today. Exchanged it once today because the power button was flush, which was odd. (I got a One when they first came out but ended up switching to the S4 for a bit, and the first Ones power button wasn't flush)

The second one I got in the exchange has the usual tiny gaps up top (which don't bother me), but it does have an odd texture around the power button. I'm leaning towards trying to exchange it again, but the rep in the first exchange claimed you can only do one without having to pay restocking. Not quite sure if it bothers me yet though.

I didn't have to pay any fees on either exchange. I have heard other posters say that as well but for me it wasn't a problem. I did get much better service over the phone than in-store so you might want to try that.

I might stop in tomorrow at a different store, show them the phone, and see what they say. Its not a huge deal, but its just weird surfacing on that top part. I think he was just saying that so I wouldn't come back.

Is this English? Why is the poll closed? No issues with my One, I'm very satisfied with my purchase.

Mine is absolutely perfect and as to the other discussion, my observation is that everyone wants to validate their purchase but the Samsung owners seem to be much more blind in their loyalty.

One owners want the One to be the best and S4 owners want the S4 to be the best, but there seems to be an added Samsung factor that isn't present with most HTC customers. I assume this has something to do with marketing as I've always been put off by the products themselves, at least in terms of the way they look and feel in the hand (very disappointed in the build quality and hardware in their Galaxy Tab compared to its competitors and now the S4 has top hardware but creaks like all hell if you put any pressure on it). They seem to be getting a little bit of an Apple-like following, but I always felt like Apple got popular due in part to styling, something which Samsung products lack. The push into Best Buy stores surely helps, though.
