HTC One Roms

Hi everyone. I currently own a galaxy s4 and I am thinking about switching to a HTC One. Problem is I briefly owned one before and hated sense 5 and the black bar syndrome. I have recently started reading up on rooting. I was wondering if anyone can tell me if there are any ROMs that would rid the phone of the black bars and if so can you also install a kernel at the same time that allows the HTC logo to be used as a home button?

There are cyanogenmod roms that have it removed or you could just do what I do and install the Rom cleaner script that removes sense.

Could you explain more about what this does to remove sense. Would it remove blinkfeed etc?

It basically removes all parts of sense! Approximately 40 total user and system apps.

Any 4.2.x based ROM will also let you get rid of the black bar in the settings, under gestures. There is a option for long press home for menu. There are a large number of ROMs that are now based off Sense 5 (stock w/ addins) and the Google Edition which is very stock based.
