HTC One S, Jelly Bean update--screen brightness not working, and other problems

Hello.

HTC One S. The crappy one, with 16GB(11.5GB) space and the 1650ish battery. Terrible.

Anyway, I downloaded Jelly Bean, excited for offline Google Voice and USB Pandora Streaming. And... problems started.

1) The new Screen Brightness Widget and Power Dashboard Widget's screen brightness button... don't do anything. I click, they animate, but nothing happens. The old Power Control widget works fine, but the newer, prettier ones do nothing.

2) Productivity lock screen shows... nothing. Get a message or miss a call, check phone--"no weather data available" is all that shows. So I unlock--I don't get the popup window showing either, just the number in the lower-right of the tray icon.

3) Tried to plug into my car stereo. Don't know if it works--One S shows "USB Debugging Mode" icon and notification. But developer options are off, and Enable Debug blanked out too... I don't know if it's incompatible with my stereo (Sony CDX-GT565UP), which just shows "USB DEVICE NOT SUPPORTED"--but with the phone in debug mode, and constantly acting like I just connected it every 45 seconds, it might just be glitching. Don't know why Jelly Bean doesn't just emulate an Pandora device or iPhone for connectivity purposes, but there you go.

4) Clicking the USB notification doesn't pop up the "charge only" or "mount as drive" options, it instead takes me to "share mobile network" crap. Obnoxious if all I want to do is charge.

Now, I called HTC support. They had me load into hboot and wipe cache partition--clearing out the old OS completely and loading all the new stuff. That didn't fix anything.

What else can I do? Are these HTC Sense 4+ issues, or Jelly Bean issues? Halp?

PS--Is there any way--ANY way--of upgrading the storage in this POS? 8GB is pathetic--to take any pics or vids I have to have the phone memory almost blank, and the battery is terrible. I know I can crack the case and swap out the battery without too much challenge, but isn't the storage just an SD card? Surely someone's puzzled out how to upgrade it or swap to a larger capacity card.
