Ok let me start out by saying that i know this thread is for neither one of these phones. I own an optimus v an i have the chance to get either the htc one v or samsung galaxy s 4g. I didn't want to post this in the Galasy S forum or the Htc one v forum because i know those arent very popular here. I also know that some of you have or are hoping to get the one v for virgin mobile. But for those who have the one v or galaxy, which should i get. I know the galaxy s has a 4in screen while the one v is only 3.7, and alos the gs4g is still only 2.3 while the one v is 4.0. Both of these are a step up from my optimus v, that im sure of. So can i have some advice please?

What are your needs?

And these days Sprint, Boost and VM are peddling the Epic 4G Touch/Unlimited Edition (Sprint) and the SGSII 4G (VM/Boost) with ICS.

On specs alone, it's the SGSII 4G all the way...blows the One V away in everything. The caveat is that there's no longer a guarantee that Sprint will even keep WiMAX past next year (people need to remember that their deal with Clearwire actually expires Dec 31, 2013 but has a two year option to 2015 to be exercised at the sole discretion of Sprint). And this is even more so now that rumors have surfaced that Sprint will bring LTE to Boost and Virgin.

Personally, I'd wait and see what Sprint will do next April or May. The rumor is Q1 of 2013, meaning that they would do it after they close their deal with Softbank.

oh no, not the galaxy s 2, i meant the orginal, this one: Galaxy S 4G Smartphone | Samsung Mobile

Since that isn't available on Virgin, I assume you plan on going to another carrier.

Chose your carrier first, then a phone. There is a neighborhood 10 miles from me, where only T-mobile has coverage for cell (but only barely), however, at my house, while T-mobile has coverage, you can only get data while outdoors. Meanwhile, Other carriers work fine here. Figure out if the other carrier will even work for your needs at home, work, and the commute in between. The greatest phone in the world is useless if you can't use it. Ask neighbors and co-workers about data and voice quality and coverage before you switch.

Beyond that, it would come down to which carrier would be best. All things being equal, the One V is a newer phone, but Sense on it will slow it down a little. Some people prefer HTC, some prefer Samsung.
