Tally-ho~
My phone starts to boot but freezes at "HTC" white screen. When I try to turn the phone off it comes right back on and freezes up again. I have tried hooking up to my computer to get the pictures to download. But HTC syn does not detect the device. My problem may require a hard boot, but I would like to get my pics first. So far no black screen. The phone is still getting power. It simply refuses to fully boot to the home screen. Is there a holy grail of secret methods? Suggestions?
Thanks,
~jake

A hard boot is turning the power off, then turning it on. If you mean a factory reset, 1) I don't think it will solve the problem and 2) it will definitely wipe all your pictures.

See if it boots to the download or recovery screen. If not, the motherboard is probably gone. If it does, you probably have to reflash the ROM (also wiping everything out).

How do you not get into this problem? Any file not backed up to at least 2 destinations is a file you don't need. So if the files on the phone aren't backed up somewhere you really don't need them. (IOW, you can't do anything now, but in the future make sure you have at least 2 backups, like on one a computer and another on a cloud account. The odds of the phone, computer and cloud account all going belly up at the same time are more than astronomical.)
