Jebus I hope he's off. If they keep the same camera and cut internal storage, maybe only offering larger storage options later then it's a clear no go for me. I use almost all of my 64gb and an SD card slot is no substitute for on-board storage.

Labfooter is one of the oldest custom rom maker for HTC on XDA, he probably build relationships with HTC as he many times got official rom sources from them before others.
Now he's not the head of marketing of HTC,so if you ask me HTC want us to believe these rumors about keeping 4mp as long as possible till they reveal a 6mp so we get more happy than if they announce it right now.
You expect 4mp and you get 6mp = you will be happy
You expect 6-8mp and you get 6mp = you will be like ''meh''

I don't know about that 'HTC want us to believe' stuff. I doubt they'd be leaking out deliberately false information just to try and surprise people. I think the info gets leaked out legitimately. Plus, people are putting their names to these leaks. Evleakes, Mike1986, Labfooter etc; they're all claiming they have info on the device. Now with two different sets of info, someone is going to be wrong, but I doubt these people would want to be thought of as the ones who got it wrong.

Don't forget all of them are saying it's still rumors,so we can't make them responsible if half the specs are wrong later.
Rumors are rumors till official specs are revealed by HTC (end of February)

I'm semi-excited about the M8. Not sure I will pick it up I might just sick with the One for a little bit longer. Its the longest time I have kept a phone as well...HTC hit the ball out of the park! If its just a refreshed HTC One with newer internals I might wait another phone cycle and get something else just for change. But I will see I guess.

I wouldn't doubt this for a min, it's a classic move. It's widely believed hat Apple was the original source for the leaked $1,000 price tag for the original iPad. Rumor sites ran with it and when he iPad was released at significantly less people were pleasantly surprised.

Everyone who is claiming to have info is saying that it isn't 100% solid, which I'm sure is how it was delivered to them. They get an out if the final specs are different and keep their credibility.
