HTC says Android 2.2 "In the near future"

Earlier, subitted a question on the HTC support site. I asked when the DInc is getting an update to Android 2.2. And This is what i got back:

trade offs:
one phone per year, vs 20 different phones
one hardware vendor, many different.
one carrier, many...

and many more.

Sorry, but I'm going to have to remain skeptical of even this... too easy for a photoshop job. I doubt HTC is sending individual responses to those asking about the release date. Most likely they are sending automated messages and others would have received this exact same message. Which we haven't seen from anyone that I know of.

Even if this is true "coming soon" means something different to everyone. 4 month till December is "soon" for me. And last I checked they only promised it by Christmas.

I should be on my 11th incredible by then....but big red said they would put me in another device if the next one fails......but I don't want the X.....

HTC is doing what it has always done, even from the beginning of this with the G1. It seems as if they stew over updating the phones. That is why they tend to lose customers like me. They play too many games with this suff. I'm willing to bet that the Droid X, which is a newer phone than the Incredible will have 2.2 well before the Incredible does.

I didn't use PhotoShop. I used Paint to cover up my personal information. I don't even have PhotoShop

Yeah I wouldn't bet against the DX getting froyo first either,looks like the saga continues for the incredible tune in next week as the exciting adventure continues on the dinc.

I'm a bit surprised they have to "At this point in time, it has been confirmed that the Inc will be receiving the update to Android 2.2". When they put it like that, it sounds like they were thinking of not updating at all. That also sounds like this would be the last update for the Inc.

"near future" is pretty open-ended. I mean if I live to be 80 years old, "near future" is like 2015.

I'm just happy we don't have to pay for firmware updates...

BTW, my thoughts on 2.2's delay for the DINC: it can't just be customizing SenseUI, that's already done on their other devices. I would hope the delay means HTC is working on bug fixes and phone enhancements before they roll it out (like auto-restart with low signal, possibly battery charging fix, etc.)... I guess I'm just trying to be optimistic.

im waiting for my 5 Dinc to stop working. its had some glitches since i got it, but so far a battery pull does the trick. if i have to do a hard reset to fix it, im done.
