HTC Sense restarting and re-defaulting

I posted this once before but thought I'd do it again with a more descriptive title. I can't imagine I'm the only one who is having or has had this problem, but knowing my luck, or lack thereof, it could be....

Here's the problem(s):
* HTC Sense is restarting from time to time when I press the Home button. It's maybe once a day at most and with no regularity or consistency.
* I'll press Home and the phone asks which Home I wish to use, the phone Home or HTC Sense. I'll check the box to make it my default, press HTC Sense, and it'll work fine for a while before it asks again. And again, there's no regularity or consistency that I've noticed.

Here's the situation:
* I've never used or downloaded any other Home application, nor have I uninstalled the HTC Sense (though I did once, after all this started, clear the defaults and then reset the default, which didn't seem to work)
* I'm running 1.5 still - no roots or leaks or anything else
* I'm using Antivirus app

It's not a major functional issue, but it is a drag and I don't want it to happen when I really need it, like when I'm using the GPS or something.

So - any ideas, smart people?

Ok, I think I tried what you all suggested. I turned the phone off and took the battery out for a while. Restarted it, and, eventually, it started happening again. First I noticed that HTC Sense was an option when I long-press the Home button. Later it asked me what my default home page was. As always, I checked the box and tapped HTC Sense. And, as usual, later on it restarted HTC Sense as well.

Did I miss something? Any other ideas?

Hello! I joined here just to try to help you out. I had this same problem except I'm not sure Sense was restarting... but it would forget that it was default all the time including after a long press. Turned out to be a program installed causing it and since then I've found other people having the same problem with other programs. "Astrid" "Task Manager" "Any puzzle game (simpsons puzzle, family guy puzzle)" are the ones I know about but there might be others... mine happened to be the family guy puzzle :)

Ahhhh.... Puzzle games might be it. Those were installed right before I started having the problems. Those crossed my mind as a potential cause, but I dismissed it in favor of looking at apps that have more to do with thee function of the phone itself rather than just fluff. I'll have to try next week, though. My 7yo daughter really loves those (Barbie, Barbie Mermaid, Princesses), as does my 5yo boy (Spiderman). That sucks. Perhaps, if that is indeed the cause, the developer can figure out a fix. I'll try next week and update accordingly. My li'l girl will hate it if I remove them while they're here with me on spring break! I can live with it until then. Thanks!

You were right. After my kids left this weekend I removed the puzzles (any from PlayGameSite.com) that had been on there and the problem immediately disappeared. Which creates another problem now because my little girl loved her Barbie puzzles! Fortunately I have about two weeks to figure out that problem!

Thanks Hix!
