HTC Sense Skins Help

Had a question regarding new skins on the Incredible 2. I've downloaded some from droid-life.com, i.e. downloading the apk file, clicking install, watching it say install complete. However when I exit out to the homescreen and to the personalization option, the skins are not there. I have Astro installed but cant find the skins on there. I've read that you dont have to be rooted to be able to do this. So with all that being said does this have anything to do with htcsense.com not working for the Incredible 2? Could I register my device as an Incredible S to get the to work? Any ideas or do I have to root to use these new skins?

By the way, I do have the Unknown Sources option checked under the Settings>Applications area...

Two posters at XDA have skins that work for the updated Incredible 2. I think the names are Gadget and sopL87. If you search for "Thunderbolt Sense 2.1 skins" you should come up with them. The original (sense 2.0) versions of these were mentioned in an article on Droid-life a few months ago, so they might be what you are looking for...

If you have Gingerbread (2.3.3 or 2.3.4) installed they may not be compatible.

There are two threads in the XDA Thinderbolt forum for Sense Skins. One if for Froyo OS and the other is for Gingerbread. Make sure the skins you are loading are compatible with Gingerbread.

Oh ok. Maybe I should search for gingerbread compatible sense 2.0 skins then. The links I found didn't work after I downloaded them. So ill give it a go later on...

Nope, you need to look for Sense 2.1 skins if you're on Gingerbread. The 2.0 skins won't show up.

So no luck really. Been on several threads on xda and can't seem to get it to work. Click on the apk file link and it says I don't have a program compatible to run the program. Have tried downloading it on my computer and transferring it to my SD card. Open Astro, click the apk, and then install it. Yet it still won't show up in the personalization section. Even tried pulling up the QR codes and same issue, no programs compatible. So I'm stumped. I'm not rooted but thought it said I could. Suggestions?

Here are the links to the two threads I mentioned above. The skins from both work on my phone. A couple from sopL87 have some ghosting effect in the notification bar, but that is the only problem I have had.

Here's what I did...
I downloaded the skins to my computer. I then plugged in my phone and selected to use it as a disk drive and transferred the files to my phone. Once the phone was disconnected, I found them in Astro (I put them in my downloads folder) and clicked install. Once they were all installed, I went to the skin picker and they were there with the original ones from HTC.

I don't know much about these phones, but this worked for me.

The skins in the links above are updated for Sense 2.1. The old versions will not work if you have updated your phone.
