HTC struggling to sell 1 million HTC 10 units this year?

HTC can't get their phones right so that's why they fail. I want to love the 10 but:

Terrible battery life.
Poor screen. Outdoors, the worst I've (not) seen in years.
Sub par camera compared to other flagships.

I came from an S7 Edge. And while there are plusses and minuses on both. The S7 Edge wins on the above very important factors. I was ready for a change, so fine but I don't think I'll stick with the 10 beyond the Moto Z or Nexus release.

Seems to get it right for me. Battery life gets me 2 days roughly. Screen is 100% usable for myself, and yes Ive used S7e for extended periods of time, including 2 different ones. Camera looks very good overall. And again, compared them side by side in my hands also.

HTC would have failed even if they had the perfect phone. I am curious as to how you think things would have played out had HTC made the 10 to be the best phone on earth.

Not sure about battery life but led to believe it's good. Screen is very good except the polarization which sucks with polarized sunglasses outdoors. Otherwise it's among the best panels out there. Camera is literally tied for best in the market, so there's nothing that's definitively better.

That is true however the salesman will do that specially in AT&T and Verizon stores. Like you I'm in retail I work at Best Buy I saw all kinds of electronics including phones. I actually sell at Best Buy some unlock phones and clean the Galaxy S6. But I'm trying to get up yes I do agree with you that they should see me the step of the marketing. However if I had a cc in my store and not just online at my website. I could sell it like hotcakes because I actually had the device and it works a hell lot better than the Samsung Galaxy S7 especially the camera and the fingerprint scanner.
Actually had a customer come in today trying to get his fingerprints can work on his S6. So we can get to work with his finger I did get his command work on my phone well I had Nation C10 love the Galaxy S7 or the Galaxy S6. And the guy was so floored that he wanted to go get it but we don't sell it at Best Buy only online and I have none in stores. It's because of the way that retailers and salesmen treat the phone. They get a bigger bonus by selling Samsung phones and iPhones. Why sell a phone that don't get them that much money why would do what it's going to do they have to sell that phone unless it's a personal choice.

HTC 10 Camera works better than the S7? In what way?

Even though I feel as though the S7 is the better device for the average consumer (also the S7e being the best phone on the market) I feel as though HTC 10 should definitely be selling more devices. They're definitely a close 2nd in the Android space but in terms of sales it doesn't seem like that at all. Well HTC will always be in my heart. (Coming from an HTC One M7 and EVO 3D)

The reason I went with s7 edge is simple: price.

It was a $150 deal from Telus, my carrier matched the price and my monthly bill was kept the same... i was off contract with them now I am on a 2-year contract.

If I get HTC 10, I have to pay $999 + tax to get it from HTC directly, or get it from Bell for $299 on a two year contract. And my monthly bill goes up to by $15 per month.

So overall I had to pay $660 more to get HTC 10. Even if HTC is better than s7e, it won't be that much.

Now that exposes HTC's problem to be more than its products. The reason it goes exclusive with Bell in Canada is, I hope, they have no choice (if they choose to do so then they are just incompetent). They don't have the same bargain power as Samsung anymore when they negotiates deal with carrier. They don't have the volume to reduce mfg cost of HTC 10 so they have enough profit margin to undercut competition. They don't have the marketing budget to push their product anymore.

So regardless how great their products are, when a consumer facing the same math I had to face when I was making my purchase decision, the odds will tilt significantly toward Samsung.

Phone is way to expensive in Canada and not on to many contracts, at 1000 $plus tax makes it hard to justify so I went with a op3 and basically half price.
And also got me a Nexus 5x as back up cheap on Kijiji and still have money left over lol

As for an unlocked Verizon phone on AT&T I recently purchase a One Max and did the same. Although the phone worked there were a couple of issues I still can't figure out how to get around. First of all the phone will not update unless on CDMA even with a Verizon sim in it. Secondly it will not download a mms sent via text. I may eventually switch to Verizon and re-install all my apps.

Even the Blackberry priv is on track for 3 mill and that was a huge failure

Great phone but sales are just not there

Priv was a very niche device and a first run on the platform playing on a customer base that was almost entirely foreign to Android. HTC is established as mainstream but has been less and less relevant for 3 years and has no new customer base to tap into.

I get outstanding battery life on my as well... I really like the screen on mine, granted I do agree I've had phones that had a wider range of brightness. Mine is at 75% brightness, where as my Moto X Pure was around 45%. Although I think the HTC 10 screen is quite bit better than than Moto X Pure...bolder colors, whites are more white while Moto X Pure had a yellowish tint, and 10 has better viewing angles.

After watching a few comparison and torture videos is the main reason for getting an HTC 10. The price is kinda high but they give a year of uhoh replacement for FREE. No insurance which for AT&T is $8 plus a deductible. That to me justifies the price. Their previous phones being sub-par is leaving them behind.

Agreed, Im not saying its the end all screen, but nothing about it lets me down to the point its not usable in pretty much any situation. Could it be brighter, sure, does it need to be, debatable as I havent had issues with it still and Ive used mine many a times by the pool with sun in full effect.

I loooved my blackjack you had a damn near full windows experience SD expansion headphone jack and blue tooth plus a qwerty in your pocket..that seemed like the future then lol especially with the iPhone 1st gen on the horizon *head explodes*

Now that ZTE is taking orders for the Axon 7 unlocked version I won't look at the 10. $399 with incredible features as well as 1 year uh oh protection on the 7 it's a no brainer. I have always been an HTC owner going back to the Hero. But HTC priced the 10 too high for me. I hope HTC recovers but I am moving on.

My Verizon store has plenty in stock and about 3 as displays all around the store...side by side with the M9

I'm happy with the HTC 10 and even I already placed a pre-order for the ZTE Axon 7 that finally opened for pre-orders yesterday. For $399 (and a free Monster N-Pulse DJ headphones if pre-order with newegg ZTE AXON 7 64GB 4G LTE Quartz Gray Unlocked Smartphone 5.5" 4GB RAM - Newegg.com) I have what it seems to be one of the biggest surprise of the year. It even includes the Passport 2.0 program with 2 Full years of protection even from Water damage, I've been reading and reading and watching reviews for months now and I couldn't passed on it.

Sadly, once I get my Axon 7 my HTC 10 will be flashed back with t-Mobile's firmware (I actually have the Unlocked US on it) and will S-On and Lock bootloader back and will go back to T-Mobile and will may also get the Note 7 with the jump On Demand program.
