htc sync erratic

OK, this is starting to get frustrating. I keep losing the ability to sync. I have the logo in the task bar, but when I hook up the phone, it never picks it up in sync. I can mount and unmount just fine, and debugging is on. I "think" i've narrowed it down to whenever I used adb to push something to the phone, after that, sync no longer works and I have to reinstall it. 2 or 3 times a day is getting old.
