HTC Thunderbolt and 4G Maps

I am interested in getting Tbolt but I am confuse weather I have 4G in my area or not.

There are two different types of maps available on Verizon. #1 does not show my area. #2 shows my area. I am in South Eastern Michigan.

Which one should I believe?

(1) 4G LTE Network | Verizon Wireless
(2) Verizon Coverage Map & Wireless Services | Verizon Wireless

the 4g map also has a tab for coming soon which will be launched by mid year. only detroit an flint are listed in michigan.

the 2nd map is just a 3g coverage map. click 4g an refresh the map an it shows how far 4g is.

That is correct, for 2nd map I clicked on 4g and then refresh the map and when I zoom in, i do see my City (Novi, MI) does have 4G. I can also search Novi, MI and it shows 4g.

But if I search Novi, MI in the 1st map then it doesn't come up, what the hack!

that first map is kinda whacky. im not in a launch area, but im in the coming soon. fayetteville, nc. but if i type my address says it cant even find me lol

There will be more cities added for the 2nd half of 2011, and final rollout is supposed to be done by end of 2012, is that right or is it 2013?

completion will be done in 2013, as anywhere ther is verizon ther is 4g. but im sure at end of 2012 almost all of the states will be covered. all the major cities will be covered in 4g in my state by mid year. go north carolina!!!

I would rely more on the 2nd map than the 1st one. It looks like there's a Verizon store or a retailer in Novi, MI, maybe you can go into the store and ask to see a demo of the 4G USB modems, that should tell you if you're covered.

SE Michigan does have 4G right now. It's limited to the northern suburbs like Rochester, Shelby Township, etc. This is entirely due to the conflicts the network has with Canada. see here for more info. Verizon 4G coverage coming to Oakland, Macomb counties - dailytribune.com

what I find interesting is that it now has a defined area for weaker LTE signal... it calls it "border zone" but it clearly has pockets mixed in with the stronger LTE signals...

Check where your house and/or work is before you buy one of these phones in case you are situated directly in a poor signal area for LTE

Thanks everyone for your help. I asked VZ support on chat and they told me that i had 4G available Even though one of the map doesn't show that.
