its from wirefly signing the 2 yr contract with verizon. My question is why is it so cheap compared to Verizon directly? this is what it says on the contract... What does that mean though? sorry to sound dumb i just would like to make sure and not be fooled...Im trying to get in on the unlimited data before its up as $129.99 and $249.99 is a big difference in the purchase price...thanks all

To provide you with significant savings vs. buying in a retail store, the price you paid for your device includes an Instant Savings Discount from this authorized retailer.
By accepting this Instant Savings Discount, you agree to repay $200 of this discount ($350 for smartphones, tablets, and netbooks) and authorize us to charge your credit card in repayment of this amount if, you signed up for a 2 year agreement and during the 181 days after your new equipment is activated, Verizon Wireless notifies us that the services you purchased have been suspended, disconnected, or deactivated, or if you return your purchase outside of the return and exchange provisions of our 30-day Satisfaction Guarantee.

They are cutting into their commission more to make more sales. It's a common practice but make sure to read the strings that are attached. If memory serves it is something like this

1. You need to maintain active service for at least 181 days. That means you cant pay your bill late (or at least late enough to get suspended). It also means you cant cancel your account (get zapped with both the VZW ETF AND fees from Wirefly).
2. You cant change your plan to a lower plan for 181 days
3. You cant switch the phone to another line of service for 181 days
4. You cant cancel another line of service with VZW during this same timefeame or it will be seen as replacing an existing line and you will get zapped.
5. If you have problems with initial activation you need to call Wirefly not Verizon to get it fixed, same thing with returns/exchanges.

If VZW tells them that you do any of these fees they loose their commission, and you get zapped with a big "equipment recovery fee" (That's LetsTalk's term, not sure what Wirefly calls it) of something like $250 or so depending on the device.

Not saying it is a bad deal, just read the fine print.

If the phone is for you, you don't plan on moving it to a different line or upgrading anytime soon, and you pay your bill on tine every month then yes it is an amazing deal. If you are concerned about any of the above then I would not do it.

thank you for the prompt reply :) well I plan on keeping the thunderbolt until these new phones come out Bionic and Function...i plan on selling the thunderbolt then buy either of those phones pending reviews...is that doable bro?

No.

Bionic is coming mid august so a month and a half from now (180 days is 6 months). If you switch to a different phone before the end of the year you get zapped. It doesn't matter that you will end up paying full retail for the new phone, they will see that you removed the phone from the line and assume (correctly, in your case) that you intend to sell it.
