HTC: ThunderBolt getting ICS before the end of the month (August)

Re: HTC: ThunderBolt getting ICS before the end of the month (Aug

My anticipation died already and it came to a point where I'd rather settle with my Nexus 7 to enjoy true/pure android experience while my Thunderbolt became an internet modem for my N7.

Personally I don't think ICS is worth it because I think it would only make my TB sluggish and laggy than it already is. I'd rather skip ICS and move onto Jelly Bean, but that's not gonna happen =(

Or the opposite could happen and performance could improve. Anything would be an improvement over the last OTA.

Apparently the Rezound is flying now after their ICS update, I'd be surprised if it made the TB sluggish.

Apparently the Rezound is flying now after their ICS update, I'd be surprised if it made the TB sluggish.

That's most likely due to multi-core processor support built into ICS that allows it to fully utilize the Rezound's dual core processors. The same cannot be said for the single core Thunderbolt. In general, newer operating systems rarely run better on older hardware. So best case, the Thunderbolt runs ICS as well as it currently runs on Gingerbread, worse case, it lags a bit.

I don't think it'll be sluggish. I also think ics has much better memory management.

Thing is, it's HTC saying it will be releasing ICS for the Thunderbolt by the end of the month... To VZW. Then, if VZW decides to get it to end customers, they will work on getting it tweaked how they like, and right around December-February they will release it, (maybe), once everyone else has already used their upgrade, (if they stay with VZW, choosing to lose their unlimited data), that was an early adopter... Sorry, I just don't see Big Red as a company who gives a blank about anything but getting NEW customers. They've taken every perk to being loyal, and turned it into being a burden. I don't see that changing. My 2 cents, sorry for the belligerence.

As soon as another provider has a 4G network as extensive as vzw I'm gone...but ai doubt it will ever happen.

Might be some truth in it.

When I had the original EVO I saw a guy from HTC in two shack and I asked him about froyo and he said by the end of August, then it was released by the end of August.

Re: HTC: ThunderBolt getting ICS before the end of the month (Aug

Yesterday I was replying back and fourth with a friend on FB about the tbolt. He was calling the thundertird and could not wait to get rid of it. He was complaining about battery life. Then a bunch of my friends chimed in and then VZW jumped on the bandwagon. Everyone called them out about the battery. Then I had to call them out about ICS. They came back and said we are getting it. One of my friends told them that actions speak louder than words.

Viper - No. Once you root, you don't get updates. You would want to find a rom that has the lastest updates included, so you have the best of both worlds. Getting your updates from a custom rom, and having a custom rom on a phone in your control. Maybe even debloated. :-)

If you root and still run stock you WILL receive updates. To prevent OTAs you have to either flash a custom rom or rename the OTAcert.zip file which will allow you to run stock (which is what i did... still happily running .9)

I dont care if Verizon ever pushes the update so long as they leak the radio info for the devs.

I wont be surprised if VZ dont push the OTA.
Use it as a stepping stone to sell you another phone that will get timely updates.
Smh.

Why is it always gloom and doom around here?
